I keep seeing mention of where people are dumping exhaust, what difference does dumping it wherever make?

GOOD THINGS
It's louder and deeper. Sound very cool. On a V8 it sounds very BBish. For V6s, people will think you have a V8 in there. The sound difference change isn't by close observation, but an very noticable change. It'll hide your exhaust. I personally like that look. I think it makes it so much more sleek looking. A turndown tips is nothing special, it'll run you 8 -15 bucks and you can do it yourself.

BAD THINGS
If anything is loose on your truck, it'll vibrate and sound like crap. Kind of like licence plates on some ghetto boom cars. Some people like a nice pretty exhaust tip(s). A hell of a lot more interior resonance. In my truck you can feel your back vibrate. I don't notice anymore unless I pay attention to it. New riders that are not accustomed to your truck may find it bothersome. You will be banned from parking garages.

I want my exhaust to sound as mean as possible. I have a one in two out magna flow on my 02 R/T. Would it sound good if I took the third cat off and dumped the exhaust? Also could I do that with the one in two out muffler? Sorry for all the questions. Thanks guys.

Nah, no change -- noticable anyways -- in performance.

I have a 2000 Dak with the 4.7 and I used a one in, two out 50 series SUV Flomaster with turn downs right before the rear axle. The truck sounds mean but like xplikt said, it is alot louder in the cab.
I did feel like I lost a little power around 1500RPM but I gained a little power around 5000RPM. Over all, I don't think it really affected the total power output, but it sounded great. I hope that helps.

I've got a 3" in and 2-1/2" dual out magnaflow dumped on my 4.7 and I love it. I cranked it up after installed and a big smile fell on my face. As far as performance goes, I've heard that every bend in your exhast pipe causes loss of Hp. The way I figured, loose all the bends going over the axle, keep more power. It's probably not noticable power, but it's power none the less.

When I did it, I could tell the difference after I took the cat-back system off and dumped it. I definately felt like I lost some performance. But on the good side, it definately shakes stuff.

i returned the 34 dozen umbrellas, i bought a new ford(pregnant) f-150. its wet. i mean its bad.i crached into a cop and he blamed it on me. he was the one stopped in the middle of the road, at a red light, and i hit him at 120 mph like i did the pedesterians. it so was his fault. (pediterticians) ok, i have my new chevy s-10, i was on the way to bring my wife to the gynocolisgt (i'm 17) and my 8 year old son threw a watermelon out the window and it hit an inocent eldery woman. i was going 120 mph on the side walk again. yeah. wow. any way i got my wife to the gynocoligst and she had nacrititing feschetis. well were all happy .youll never believe this, i got my license taken away for doing 120 mph on the wrong side and on the side walk. it was all the cops fault. he made me do it.
