Subject: Going to buy Dakota 4-cyl, but...

Hey, i work at a honda dealer as a lot attendant, the GMC next door is run by the same company, and we share the same detailing area. While i was back there i saw a dakota cc, so when it was put on the lot, I checked it out. It is a 2000 CC with a 2.5 4-cyl w/ only 33,ooo miles I test drove it and i liked it, it is in like-new condition. Sure it wasn't incredibly fast, but i'm not into racing, but one problem is the top end. They are offereing it to me for only $10,800. 4 grand less than KBB value. I really want to get it, so i was wondering what mod or mods can i get to improve the top end, just a little.

I bet if you didn't buy that truck it will be still sittn there a year from now. Way to many other good trucks with 6rs or 8s for same money. Maybe not as new, but still better.

Dakotaman if you don´t race, why not buy a 4 banger dak?? why buy a v6 or v8 engine if the speed limit limits you at 65 or 70 mph on the highway.... I have a dak 99 with 21500miles. I´m the first owner and i´m proud of it.You have to be happy with your acquisition and nobody esle.Good luck.

Dont buy a fourbanger...especially for a Dakota.
Even sensible cars like Camrys and Accords have V6s.
4 cylinders are for motorcycles.
And you're paying $10k for that pos...good luck.

I actually own a '98 Dak 2.5L 4-banger. It5 is an really nice truck. It has about 130,000 miles on it. I put 40,000 on it in less than a year. I put a K&N air filter and a flow master on it. It isn't the best for racing but it is nice for driving. I can still get it to about 110 mph. The little engine fights. If you are going for speed, go for a bigger engine otherwise it is a good choice. I decided I wanted speed after I bought it. I am just going to have to get a new vehicle for speed now.
