Some people have dropped 528 Hemis in thier Dak... oh, you said S10. Someone had linked an S10 board a while back that looked like it probably had good info on them.

(To be perfectly honest, if GM offered a V8 in thier Sonoma, I'd be driving one of those)

Considering the availability of kits to swap a 350 in, and the cost of long blocks, that's not out of the question.

it will take every dakota that isnt fast. there are a few daks in the 11's, a lot in the 12's, and it seems almost everyone on the delphi board is in the 13's.

its not what car/truck is next to you, its how much cash the owner has, and ofcourse driver skill

Thats rite KOTA,all always heard "speed cost money how fast you wanna go"but with and old 350 in a s-10 i've seen people take 3000 grand in a motor and turn low 10's thats in the whole motor,a dakota is a new truck with the computer sh!t where you can't do a whole lot to it.My dakota gets me to work and back i don't know about yours or everybody elses but me i'm not doing alot of work to mine cause i don't want to mess it up or make it bad on gas mileage,i have a 67 chevy p/k with a 468 with about 8 grand in the motor alone with street tires and no nos yet, because rite now it scares the ever livin sh!t out of me...lol...but sooner of later its getting a 400 shot rite now its pushing about 750 hp,after that h/p being in a truck i'm almost sure i'll take it out and put it in my 67 ss chevelle,So along with the money and h/p you have in your car or truck your rite you have to know how to keep the hp in your car/truck on the road because my old truck has been in a couple ditches...lol.That is a nice truck kota,"superdupercharged"lol...what kinda s/c do you have.

i dont know what state you are in, but in CA you can not just put a OLD engine in a newer car. in able for it to pass smog, the engine HAS to be newer than the car (ie: you can put a engine made in 1991 in a 90 S10, but not a engine made in 1990 in a 91 S10) so we are assed out.

as far as computer controlled cars not being able to go fast, tell that to the 9 sec supra drivers who's cars are still VERRY streetable

i have a powerdyne SC, but i might be getting hooked up with a new vortech unit for dirt cheap, so i might switch

KOTA,I live in Arkansas,I wasn't being a dickhead on saying that you can't make new cars go fast,i kinda want a supra when i get ready to get a new ride,i know that there fast and so are ferrari's and lamborginas are to but in Arkansas we are sh!t out of luck...lol...i can't even go to the dealership and find a supra or a viper cause you have to order one.I'm sure in cali alot of things are different, over here where old school with our old fast rides.I do know that you can put 100 grand in a supra cause there did in fast and furious but in my opinion it wouldn't stand a chance up against the 69 charger.

im not even going to compair that movie with real life...that was the biggest joke ever put in theaters.

all im saying is, there is no doubt that it will take some money to run 9's in ANY CAR (except maby the nissan skyline...i hear 5k puts you in the low 11's/ high 10's) dosent matter if its a 69 charger, or 96 supra.

but when its all said and done, and both cars are running the 1320 in the 9-10 sec range, take them both to button willows, and see who comes out on top.

then make them you daily driver for a week, and see which you would like to park in the garage.

some people dont just want to drag race. they (i am one of them) want a car that will accelarate quick, corner like its on rails, stop on a dime, and be able to drive with the AC on. it will take a lot more money to make a older car do this, than a new car IMO

i knew you were not trying to be a dick. ;-)

I'm not one of them either thats why i have a nice dependable dakota and 2 older rides for speed and dragracing,My friends wants me to get my old truck with the 468 running(changing out cam for a bigger one)i told them i would when it gets warm outside ,but they want me to drive it on regular basis and i can't afford to drive it all the time, seeing that it gets 8 mpg in town ...lol...also i told them when i went on a date i WOULD NOT take it,they said girls love hotrods and most of them do i've meet alot in that truck but if i chose to go on a date in it could you amagine getting a slap in the face at a stop light...with having no a/c.Old an new cars have totally different uses new ones are nice and have an a/c and older are nice also and fast but most have no a/c but me having new and old both can get girls.

EFI cars can be quite quick. Look at the LT1 and LS1 cars.

As far as engine swaps go, in California it's body year or model year, whichever is newer. You can put a '90 motor in a '91 car, but that '90 motor has to conform to '91 emmisions. And if you put a '91 motor in a '90 car, that car has to conform to '91 emmisions
