Do any of you other Dakota lovers have a G35? I have been thinking about taking the RT and my wife's car down to the local drag strip to see which is faster. But if anyone else here has already done it or seen it, you could save me the $20 and the wear on my tires!

If your running a stock 01R/T you might as well save your money, that G35 even with the 260HP sedan version will do mid 14's. Even the new Honda Accorde does 14.5's. Only a few rare stock R/T might break into 14's with a 14.9. The G35 already has more power plus less weight. R/T's range from 14.9-16.0 seconds depending on model,Skill,Weather,Luck and location. My first stock run was horrible, 15.7@87 but now I'm content with 14.1@98 N/A, which should be a little faster than the Coupe G35 287?hp I'm already saving my money for the late 2003 early 2004 vehicles, the industry should be putting out some major quick stuff. The Hemi is already out, the Rotary is Back, the WRX is here and the Lancer EVO is coming and much more to come! Even cheap entry sporty stuff will be doing low 14's. I'm not getting left in the dust :)

I bet it will be a close race. I have driven both of our vehicles for some time now and just from the butt-o-meter, they feel pretty darn close. Since all of the mods to the RT have been small, it is still pretty much stock. I actually think the G35 will be a little quicker just because of the weight advantage. It just amazes me how much power they can pack into a 6 cylinder from the factory!

I am sure you are right, just wish DC would get off of their conservative hineys and do it! Or at least give their customers the information and the products to do it ourselves. I love my RT, but faster is always better.

Yes, nice power they can pull out of a V6. Don't forget, we have TRUCKS. My choice was Dakota since it is the only mid size truck with a V8. The V8 is fast and it can TOW.
While a G35 has an impressive V6 and can smoke my 4.7L 4x4, it can't tow my boat ;)

Ya, I know this is apples and oranges, but my wife keeps telling me that her car is faster! How can I live with that? She didn't seem to care as much when she had the stock '94 Civic.

Hmm maybe only a 5-speed auto with the V6, I could of sworn It say something about a 6-speed V6 coupe. I do know the current motor trend mag had a review on a bunch of cars, it listed there 1/4 times and the Accord did mid 14's. Not like I would ever buy one, just saying don't be fooled by there JapTrap looks, some might give you a run for your money :)

One more post, I found it honda.com. There is a 6-speed option but not due until February.
