I have a dakota 4-cyl, sure its slow, but i have found a fwe things that when added together will give a %50 increase in horsepower. ONe is a AIRAID cool air intake kit, another is a Venom 400 control module, which increase teh hp by %25 percent, kind of hard to explain, go to www.truckperformance.com to read about it, and a Gibson cat-back exhaust system (which would also make it sound cool). All this shouldn't cost more than $1000 and the first two things i can put on myself in less than an hour. I'll get the ehxaust at a performance shop. What else do you guys suggest, cmon, i want to have teh fastest 4-cly dakota out there!

try pacesetter exhaust, they make all kinds of headers, although not top quality products.

if anyone who has a second gen dakota with a 4 banger wants to step up a little for a decent price, i have got a COMPLETE 3.9l that came out of my friends 95 dakota. it comes with a pcm and wiring harness. cheap $500!!!! the only reason we swapped it was we bit the bullet and dropped 5 grand int a 5.9l. it only has 60k on it. it ran wonderfull when we pulled it. if you are interested in it e mail me @ shifty_jr@yahoo.com

Thanks,

I checked on this 'Venom 400' thing.

It says 'UP TO' 25% HP increase.

So it MAY max out there.

Or could it be LESS than 25%? Could be.

Sounds good, almost to good to be......

THere are cams, rockers, and a few other parts available for the 2.5L's (same engine as in the Jeeps)

I've got a complete engine and AX15 tranny at the shop...I'll sell the whole combo for $600... only 38k miles on it...

Later!

The cams controls the opening and closing of the valves...

DIfferent cams can change how much and how long the valves open...

Rocker arms actually open the valves... depending on what ratio rockers are used, the distance that a valve opens can also be changed...
