I have just installed a flex 150 fan and reinstalled my underdrive crank pulley. I had them off with a supercharger which has been removed and sold. I am concerned with the alternator charging now do to the extra fan load that I did not have before.
I have the towing package on the truck which I beleive gives you a smaller alt pulley of 2.5".
What is the diameter of some of yous please?

I solved my concern on the alternator. I just ordered a 1 7/8" alt pulley which will bring my alt back up to speed. I will still gain from slowing down the power steering a/c and water pump but will not have the charging problems at idle.

I have read through a lot of old negative posts on underdrive pulleys. This is how they work, with just the crank pulley which is down sized from stock by 25% it slows down all driven accesories (a/c,powersteering,waterpump and alternator)by 25%. The two pulley set uses the same down sized crank and a oversized alternator thus slowing the alternator even further than the 25% crank only. Some even use a third water pump pulley which is larger in diameter reducing its rpm even further.
Now if you use a crank pulley down sized 25% you slow all accesories by 25% but you down size the alternator pulley by 25%, this will bring the alternator back to stock speed. These are sometimes called power amp pulleys.
If you need more charging from your alternator at a idle, like with large stereo equipment you could leave the stock crank pulley and just change the alternator pulley to a smaller one. This would be the same as running at a fast idle to increase the charging of the alternator.
Just remember you have to change the belt length with any change.
