Hey guys, I gotta question.
I have a 99 Dak extended cab with a 318ci engine and 90k miles. It's an auto tranny with a 3.55 rear end, no LSD. I plan on bolting in some goodies (new 360ci short block from krcperformance.com, to start, then some of Bernd's goodies). My question is, what model is my transmission: 40RH, 42RE, etc. and what do I need to do to strenghten it. Also what is my rear-end model type and what can I do about some higher-ratio gearing and an LSD (any recommendations on an LSD would help also). It's a daily driver, but I want more than the 225HP stock engine and alot of traction help. And for some reason the engine will overheat in just a minute or two of standing still but is fine when moving so what is the deal with that, is it normal?

It is a 44re ( HD 42re),all you need ia a shift kit and a cooler unless you plan on going nuts on motor mods (400+ hp). The trans go kit is a "one size fits all" kit for the dodge tranmissions. Be sure to turn up line pressure 2 or 3 turns.
