Message:
has anyone tried these timing advance mods? ive seen them on ebay, and was wondering if they were worth a crap. to my understanding, it is nothing more than a resistor . does anyone know what the value of the resistor is, or where it goes. im an electromics tech. by trade, and i would like to try this mod on my 98. any info would be helpful.

thanks, rev. walt

Don't buy the ones off e-bay, they're nothing more than a single resistor. All it's doing is spoofing the IAT sensor readings and telling your PCM that the air coming in is colder than it is. Some people use a 15k resistor at the track.

Can you get away with moving the IAT sensor and running a resistore. Or is that to much

I got a resistor plugged into where my IAT sensor is and the thing runs very well, I used to have rough idle problems with my V6 and so did my dad on his 318 4X4 Ram. Once i put that resistor on there, it runs very nicely. I dont htink i remember what ohm resistor it is... i can try to find out if anyone is interested

Walt,
Just unplug the sensor from the harness and put it in a safe place for a rainy day. Take the resistor and bend the ends down into a U-shape. Then, stick the ends into the harness that you unplugged the sensor from, one side point into each of the female receptors. Push in as far as you can get it and then, the make sure it doesnt come out, get some black electical tape and tape it. Once you are done with this, find a safe, out of the way place to stick the wire and resistor assembly. Then, its done. Give it a little bit to get used to this new thing. Oh, by the way, it may be a good idea to unhook the battery so you dont short anything out or shock yourself (if thats possible). Good Luck and let us know how it goes!
