Autolite 3923's with the Robertshaw hi-flow 180 degree thermostat is the way to go. Faster starts, smoother idling, more power...just ask Harlow Wilcox (I'm sure he will chime in soon). Just be prepared to put the stock thermo back in for smog check.

Does the 180 thermostat really affect smog test readings that much over the stock one? I ask because i just got my truck smog tested in california with the 180 in it and the jet stage 2 module, high flow cat and had no problems passing smog.

waterpolo- thats good to hear. The info I got is purely theoretical, you are the first I've heard that has actually got a smog check. The 4.7's haven't been out long enough for the first routine 4 year smog check (then every 2 after that). Do you have any numbers, like % hydrocarbon or the smog printout, it would be nice to compare to the factory expected results.

Dr. Dakota Yeah i have the numbers here some where. As soon as i find it i'll post them. Also when i took the truck to get smoged the cat was falling apart (internally). I didn't let the smog shop know this. Since then i've replaced the cat but i was very impressed that it passed.
