I tow a 5400lb boat with my 99' 5.2L Dakota. Unfortunately I have 3.55 gears. I may change them in the future but I feel the motor could be stronger. Any opinions on mods to increase power BELOW 3200RPM. My truck is slow until about 3200RPM which is where it comes on very strong. I don't want to lose any torque on the bottom end with future add-ons.

I already have a K&N Gen II setup on a (don't laugh, I was duped a few years ago by Jules too) Magnum Performance T.B. I have a cat-back exhaust that was custom made locally. A Walker muffler with twin pipes out the back. It looks and sounds cool but I'm not sure what it's doing for performance.

Any tips?

Sounds like your PCM (computer) got flashed by the dealership. look under the hood and see if you have a sticker near the radaitor that says TSB-*** or just TSB and on the computer on the firewall. If so go and buy a new MP PCM or a flash. They flash your PCM and take 8 degrees of timing out.
Make sure to run Premium Fuel.

I have the same problem. Dodge tells me the only thing I can do is change the gears. Since I have a 4X4 that's about 3K, if you find any other way let me know.

I suffer from the flashed pcm. It sucks sooooo bad!!!!!! Was wondering if anyone would have any knowledge about the hypertech power programmer. I was pondering that perhaps someone who has a good flash may not notice all that much difference but some one with the retarded flash would notice some very beneficial gains. Anyone have any ideas about bringing that timing back up by way of computer and if hypertech could actually do this or am I just dreamin????
