I am looking to buy a new exhaust for my 2000 dakota v6. I want something that will increase power and performance but also have a nice throaty sound to it. If you anyone can give me ideas on what would be best that would be great!

Allow me to give you the benefit of my experience. I have a 2002 V6, and, IN MY OPINION, there's no muffler on planet Earth that will make it sound like a V8, which is what I was after. What I found out is that there are lots of mufflers that will give it a nice, throaty RICER sound...especially in the 1800-3000rpm range, where 99% of your driving occurs. I first tried a Magnaflow...excellent quality muffler...ricer sound. Then, I tried a #17748 Dynomax Super Turbo...a little quieter at first, now barely indistinguishable from the Magnaflow...same ricer sound. It's not the mufflers' fault...it's just the nature of a V6, as I've come to find out. I haven't heard a Borla on a V6, though, so I can't testify as to what their level of ricey-ness is...I'd just bet $100 that it's there. If this is what you're after, you have a plethora of choices.

Look into a Spin Tech (go to their website). Very high quality muffler with a nice, distinctive sound. Agree with the others, if you want a v-8 sound go buy a v-8.

Well I cant agree with that. I have a v6 kota and mine doesnt sound like a "ricer" at all. I have a flowmasters on the truck. Everyone thinks that it is a 8 but I always let them know.
