Hi guys, anyone know what I can expect from a fastman throttle body for a 4.7, performance wise and does it happen right away?

Get a performance flash on that computer....

Upgrades to the TB without any other mods are sort of uh......Pointless

You'll be quite pleased from the gains...(from what I've seen)

hey tom, from what I hear jet chips suck, get it flashed from

http://asechips.com/

Supposedly the fastman tb's are awesome, if I wasn't planning on trading in my truck, I'd get one myself. CThomp has the 68mm and he seems pretty happy with it, although he has said several times that he now wants to go to the 71mm, but you should ask him.
good luck

Yeah I got the 68mm Fastman some months ago and have been really satisfied with it. As clevite said I would like to go lager in the future maybe. The fastman only costs $200 and it looks stock. I didn't go for the F&B because of cost and the fact that I don't spend enough time staring at my engine to justify the shiny billet look. Dan Arcand is a great guy to buy from. The TB was at my door in maybe 3-4 days from Minnesota. I was impressed by that. Dan will tell you that you will gain maybe 8-12rwhp depending on what else is done to the truck. I felt a mild difference when I put it on but it really kicked in once I added the carsound-cat. I just got a magnaflow #14256 so hopefully that will open it up a little more. Plus the magnaflows sound fantastic. I've got to do something with the suspension though. Anymore mods and I think I may fly a way. Not that i'm modded out or that my truck is some badass but it feels kinda floaty at highspeeds.

As everyone else has said though...get you computer flashed. asechips.com or kennebell.net

Kenne Bell and ASE dont even compare to the flash done by B&G Chrysler in Warren Michigan.....they increase all shift oints by 500 RPMS, both full and partial throttle as well as advance the timing and remove the torque management factor that makes these litle trucks turn into beast. Sorry, but all those other places cant compete with B&G. It will be the best $600 you ever spent.

B&G won't flash the 4.7 trucks. Sorry but B&G can't compete unless you've got an old pushrod motor.

Can't help with where to get one though. ... speedtweaks if you want to try them ... try a local muffler shop, they can often order from a variety of companies.

Speedtweaks carries the cats for $90. Bernd is pretty tough to get a hold of though. I never order anything through his website. I always talk to him personally. Once he gets the gliches out of his online ordering...i'll be doing a bit more business with him. You can usually get though to Bernd around 1-3 Texas time. At least thats when I always had luck.

My '00 actually felt a little choked up until I put the cat on. To much going in and not enough going out. The cat solved it.

68mm TB?

I thought the 4.7's in 01- on came with 68mm TB's?

The throttle body on the '01- are 68mm at the top but if you look into the TB you'll see the TB becomes restrictive and actually is only 65mm. The fastman is a "68mm" TB. My '00 came with a 65mm. With restrictions made it 62mm. If I had a '01 I would have gotten a 71mm fastman. You '01 and newer drivers have 3 cats as opposed to my 1 cat.

I would suspect 71mm would be overkill, maybe an increase in horse power but not enough to justify the torque loss

I've heard that you lose a little but not much. This is why i'd like to do other things before I decide to upgrade. Like cams, pulley, and some kind of computer mod.

I have heard there is really not much improvment on the dyno for a 71mm vs the 68mm from what Dan said, thats why he recommended the 68.

Just had my magnaflow #14256 welded on. Definite difference in performance. It's a 2.5" in/out. I just replaced the stock muffler. The exhaust shop I went to said they can build me a custom y-pipe as well. Anyone know what the stock size is and what size I should move up to? I think the stock size might be 2" but i'm not sure.
