Subject: Powerdyne Question
IP: Logged

Message:
I am looking at buying a used Powerdyne supercharger, and I need a little assistance from anyone in the know. I have a 2000 3.9L Dak. When I look at Powerdynes on the web, a different blower is listed for 99 than for 2000, and the prices are significantly different. What is the difference between the 99 and 2000 kits? My guess is the FMU due to different injectors in 2000 (I have the 21 lbs versions, from what i have been told). Does anyone know for sure what the difference is??

Thanks in advance,

Shawn

Lattimer,

On the second page, kota on 20's is possibly selling his Powerdyne kit. If you shoot him an email, I'm sure he can answer most of your questions.

Shawn, i am 99.9% sure both kits use the 12:1 FMU. even if it was differant, it would not jack up the price that high. you can get a "rebuild kit" for the FMU for differant ratio's for about $40, or a whole new FMU for $120.

i have a 98 dakota, and my buddy had a powerdyne on his 2000 dakota RT, and we both hooked them up same way, and used the same parts (FMU, aux fuel pump, relay, ect.)

i am selling my powerdyne if you are interested in saving some $$$. i have all the nessisary things you will need to make it run right, and the price is WAY under what powerdyne is selling just their kit for.

if you are interested, give me a E-mail at kotaondubs@aol.com
or if you prefer to buy a brand new kit, and just have some questions, i will be more than happy to help you on your investment!

take care.

OK, were yours and your buddies kits the same part number?? All the websites I look at show two different p/n's, with the 2000 and up being like $500 more.

How much are you looking to get from your kit, and what does it include, how old, etc. I was already talking to another guy about a used one, but its off a 99 R/T, and I want to make certain it will work.

I think the 2000 has a smaller crank pulley, so the S/C has a different set of gears. I was wondering about that too, awhile back and thats the only conclusion I came up with.

I hope this helps

Eyetrip,

Thanks, that sounds like the info I need. So if thats the case, I'm just going to get a slower speed for a given pulley size, right?? So the 6lb pulley won't really give me 6 lbs, it will be somewhat less??

if that is the case, then yes, a 6# pulley will give you about 3-4#'s

Here is what I found out from Powerdyne. Not real in-depth, but it does answer the question.

From Powerdyne:

The 99 and up has a few additional parts such as a MSD 6 BTM timing
controller and a few other little changes. This is why there is a price
jump. I don't think it was $700.00. It should be more like $500.00.

One difference I can tell you between 99-00 trucks is Dodge changed the cruise control location <99 it was located on the firewall 00> it's down on the front left fender
