i have a 2000 dak 2wd, reg. cab, sport w/4.7l 5spd and 3.93 gears. i am thinking about putting a zex kit on it (50 shot). i want to know the downfalls to juicing a daily driver. i drive 72mi one way daily. i have a k&n element, single in-dual out flowmasters turned down at the rear end, and a cowl induction hood. no other performance mods have been made.
also, what is the best way to eliminate wheel hop. i know about traction bars but i remember seeing something on Trucks tv about j-hooks(???).

As long as you don't start playing around with fuel or nitrous jetting, you'll be fine. A 50HP shot also doesn't require any timing retard but would recommend at least one grade higher if you plan on using it all the time. Since Nitrous isn't an "always On" system, you can get away with running pump gas though.

One other item to look into, a bottle heater to keep it at a constant 80 degrees. Nitrous needs to be kept at this temp to provide the best gains for the street (track users run the bottle at a higher pressure though). Also, NEVER run it below 2300rpm with the 50 shot and never below 2500rpm with anything above a 75HP shot as a safety factory.

Run the truck with a set of colder plugs (1 heat range) to help control detonation...if any. A 50HP shot is fun, but trust me...you WILL get bored with it and will want to run it with more. A 75HP shot is a good medium between street and strip performance.

Look into some spring clamps for the rear leaves...they're used quite a bit at the track to control wheel hop.
