if u want wider tires go with the 275/60r15 they sould be the same height as the ones u have on there now but alot wider.i THINK they make a locker for the 355 gears so that both tires spin.but ANYONE else that reads this corect me if i'm wrong.

4u2nv....

I have the Firestone SS20's 275-60-15's on the stock 15x7 rims and Lakewood universal traction bars.

They will still light up if you dump it over 2,000rpm, but they spin, not hop. When they do spin they don't spin long.

At the track launching at 2,500rpm slipping out the clutch it cuts, 2.0 60 ft'ers. One special night when all the stars in the sky lined up, it cut a low 1.9...But average is 2.0.

If you are into drag racing, look into the Nitto drag radials, 275-60-15's. They hook awesome on the street, and heated up on the track they hook like a mofo. They wear better than the BFG drag radials, and they handle pretty good in wet weather.

Caltracs, and competition engineering also offer traction devices for the rear..If you're serious about it, yank the battery out and mount it in the rear, get a coil-over suspension in the back, drag shocks in the front and rear. The weight transfer in trucks sux...All of the weight is up front. Yank the sway bar, a/c, smog equipment, horn, headlights, clutch fan, condenser, etc....You don't need that crap anyway. Free HP too!!!!!

Sorry for the rambling. ;)

I have actually come up with a way(on paper anyway) that will allow you to redistribute the front weight to the rear but it is not a pretty site. Should work like a champ though it would add about 200 or so pounds to the weight.

Flame Red '99 R/T CC
52mm TB - HomeBrewed K&N Intake - 3923 AutoLites - Un-Relocated IAT - TPS @.73 - 180 TStat
Falken 285/60/R17s on Rear - RoadMaster Active Suspension - SS rollpan - XTang soft Tonneau - Mopar Bra
And one Heavy Foot

You don't miss a beat do you XPLIKT?

I was merely trying to be humorous (although some of the people on this site strip everything they can)... We need the horns, and the headlights, and I don't know about y'all, but in S.C. I needs me a/c..

We could build something up like the baja racers with the motors right behind the cab....

Should be easy enough, sawsall, and some duct tape.

Your tires are only 26" in diameter with those 295/50 tires. That gives you a bit lower gear ratio compared to say 275/60 which is 28" diameter. You should get some 60 series tires next time, it will help out a little.

heh, last time I went to the strip I accidentally did a few runs with the A/C on, only cost me about 0.2 seconds. The easy way to add traction is to add weight, though that slows you down. Traction is always a battle when dealing with sport trucks. High torque+light weight makes for a killer smoke machine :)

You don't have to add weight to get traction (it helps but also slows you down), you can:

Get slicks
Traction bars
remove your sway bar (transfers more weight to rear)

With street tires you just have to know their limitations and live with that. You can't expect them to do something there not capable of doing. There is just a point where you truck can not accelerate any faster with compromising traction.

notchlx, lol, I was just wondering where you got horn from. You mentioned a bunch of good things to get rid of, then the horn. NOT THE HORN! Did you know the horn sounds like total crap if you only have one plugged in?
