Leave it as is!!!!!!!

The Dakota rocks at it's 2 wheel drive stance. I have quivered at the site of every lowered Dak I have seen. Fortuantley not many for most teens can't afford them!! They are a muscle truck and put the money towards performance. Lowering makes it look like a teen truck who is screaming out for attention but doesn't know how to get it. A good rumbling cat back however rocks.

Don't want to cause a $hit storm with you lowrider fans but that's my opinion especialy with a quad cab. A little lowereing on a reg cab yes I will let that slide. I built a piece of shi.. low rider Chevy and won't go that route again. Chevy or lowrider.

Good luck

I'm gonna have to agree with "jeffster"...

One of the first things I had planned to do to my new truck was do a "2/3" drop and go with 18" rims and 255/50/18's, but the more I looked at it, the less I liked that idea.

I like the 16" factory rims and the way that the 255/65/16's look... fat yet tight.

Someday, I MIGHT drop the rear 1" - there IS a lotta room between the top of the tire and the bottom of the fender, but I think I'll be leaving it like it is.

jeffster, i agree with you when you say "they are muscle trucks and put your money towards performance". when you lower any car you enhance the cornering ability dramaticly!! mine has a 4/6 drop with a 35 series tire and it rides a little harder than stock (because of the tire size) and it can out handle some sports cars. also with the bigger rims the brakes cool down faster and stops a lot quicker. how long agao did you lower your car? suspencion systems have come a long way from a couple of years agao.

matt, how low do you want to go? if you want a mild drop go with a western chassis kit. if you want to it to lay the frame, get a air ride kit

I dropped mine using the Hotchkis suspension system. I love it. Handles better. Looks a lot better- but I think the stock truck looks like it's on stilts. I'm not trying to lay frame; I'm working on a mild Pro-Street (Pro-Driveway? Amateur Street?) kind of look.

Different strokes for different folks.

kota on 20's.

I lowered a 94 GMC Sonoma (Piece of shi..) back in 95 when I was younger and more punk a$$. I will admit it got the young ones panting and looked pretty good. The R.C Dak would look good lowered 1" to R/T hieght but I feel canning them takes away from that bad a$$ muscle truck look IMHO.

Anyways you are right about cornering,my old 80mph max Sonoma was on rails but it was a slug. I used Beltech spindles and Beltech coils in the front and Beltech leafs in the rear. I caped it off with Beltech nitro shocks all around and energy suspention bushings every where including the control arms. With Z rated 16" 245 45 tires not even a vet could take a higher G corner. The only problem was that for a 4 cliynder GM it was the biggest waste of money I have ever spent allthough the girls were all over it.

jeffster- i see what your saying. i know when you dramaticly lower a vehicle you take away from the drivability of that vehicle. I scrape over things and my tires rub a little. But I LOVE the looks of the dakota's sitting on the ground! it looks different. I guess i am just so sick and tired of seeing chevy's lowered. I get WAY more looks in my truck than any of my friends driving chevy's. one day ill grow out of it...maby. =)latter man.

You should get a ton of looks. If my piece of shi.. Chevy had the girls huffing and puffing the Dak must leave them gasping LOL. I excpect the same will be true of my black R.C sport plus especially with a nice tuned exaust. I think the factory height gives it a real mean muscular look in black but what ever suit's the individual.I really loved the sound of the R/T's exaust but it seems to be all show and no go. I gues what I mean is the 360 is putting out the same numbers in the Ram and Durango with regular exaust systems.

One thing there is no disagrement's on is that Dak's rock.

i think that the dakota rt's look great at stock ride hight and i wouldnt change a thing accept maybe larger rims. I drive an old 84 chevy and it looks all muscle with the stock ride but it does need some suspention help like sway bars and such but im still in the process of blowing all my money on getting the engine in supreim shape.
