I have the Ravin muffler on my V6 and i love it. It really RUMBLES hard and lowly like a lion when you start it up and and sounds great when drivin, and of course, there will be a little drone in the 2500 rmp area but i got used to it and i love it. I can't imagine what it'll sound on a V8, probably awesome....also, my motor is a 3.9L but i don't know how the flowmaster 40 sounds so i can't compare it...

I actually used to work for Midas, you know, the guys who sell the ravins. My father is also the manager, but I would have to say that the ravin has got to be the best out there. Had one on my old, (dearly departed), 87 Camaro with a V6. Sounded completely bad ass. People thought I had a V8 in it. Not to mention, best flow on the market, if you go to a Midas, they should have a brochure on it, and it shows a direct comparison to the flowmaster, Ravin wins hands down. But you have to be willing to pay for it.

They can be pretty expensive, over a hundred I think, I only the price I had as an employee, which was about 60-70. And that is Midas's price.

Ravin will get higher pitched. Flowmaster will be deeper rumble. I am talking for v-8's not 6'ers.. Who ever said raven was the best performance is mistaken. Same year and milage quad cab. Same engine and both had dual exhaust. I had flowmaster, he had raven. I was pulling away slowley but surely. People liked mine over his. Raven does get loud like a flo, but won't be as deep of a rumble.

I beg to differ, just a friendly conversation here I am not arguing. It would kind of depend on the Ravin Series he had on his truck. The longer the Muffler the Deeper the sound, which means less noise, and vice-versa. For an example, we put one on the shop owner's F-250, and I was extremely impressed. Don't get me wrong I still hate fords, but you should have heard this thing. With 3" piping all the way back it had a nice low grumble when idling, but when you got on it, damn was that thing loud! In fact the pussy couldn't take the noise and made us take it off. Also, and I hate to post a long one, but when I said Ravin was the best, I meant for performance. Everybody's taste in the best sound will vary, but when it comes to flow, the ravin wins, I'll call my father back home and see if he can get a pamphlet on the Ravins, and I will try to post a pic of the comparrison on here. Thanks for letting me ramble.

The raven and flo were the same size, and he had 4 inch tips out the back and I had 3 1/2 with 3 inch piping. His dad just put borla on his 02 ram. He didn't like his sons because it wasn't deep. He just switched over to borla and dumped it. I like it much more.

Right now I have a Ravin Z33 single in dual out on my 04 GMC Canyon. It does have a deep tone. But it is too loud in side the truck. I'm getting a Flowmaster 50 Series Delta Flow on Sat. My truck has the new inline 5cyl.

I like the flowmaster 50 Series a lot better then the ravin Z33 on my 04 Canyon. It's a lot quieter in the cab. My truck has the 3.5 inline 5Cyl engine.

I've got a 40 series on my 3.9. I love the sound, and I get a lot
of people that have to ask if its got an 8 in it or not. Of course,
the sound is always personal opinion. You might be able to
search for some audio files online that have the sounds you're
looking for. Also, I guess the 50 series is supposed to sound
about the same, but less cabin noise if that makes a difference
to you.

I've never seen or heard the Ravin, so I can't give an opinion on
it. Actually so far I've heard nothing but good things about both
mufflers, so you might just want to flip a coin, heh. But for what
its worth, I'd definately buy a flowmaster again for my truck.

My brother has the fm 40 series on his vintage mustang v8 (351 Clevland) and it sounds great! I'm in the process of rebuilding a 69 mustang with a 351 Windsor and I'm thinking about trying the Cherry Bombs mufflers but I've been getting mixed reviews. All I know about them right now is that they have more of a "raw" tone to them compared to the fm 40s. Anybody know where I could find a sound file of one or something like that?
