I have a 318 and I have the chance to buy a 360. I was wondering if I can use the same transmission. I bet you wonder why I would want to use my little weak auto tranny with the 360. It's due to the $850$ converter and its built up with kevlar bands and shift kit. So if I can use it I'm going to buy the 360 block. Both being Magnums. I can go ahead and build my motor then just swap them out. Thanks guys.

Yep, that will work. Might actually be better because the 44re has a deeper first gear than the 46re 2.74 vs 2.45. Same valve body for both so pcm shouldn't be a problem.

Make sure you swap out the converter as for the 360 is externally balanced and the 318 is internally balanced as for that it's a straight foward swap.

That sucks. I'm wanting to keep the converter I have. Any way I can still use it?

What if I get a fully internally balanced roatating kit? Can I use my converter then? It's all coming from Crower. Billet Crank, Billet Rods, and Ross Ultra light pistons. Everything fully internally balanced.

The 44re and 46re use different converters. You can't switch them around. The 360 bolts right in place of the 318, make sure you use the 360 fly wheel.

I was told that if the motor is internally balanced, I can use my 318 flex plate and use my transmision and converter. That's only if the motor is internally balanced.

Internal balanced engine, just bolt it to your 318 flexplate. External balance engine(360) use a B&M drive plate with the balance pad on it. It will bolt to your converter.
