Hey Kris,
What all did you have to do to hook up the SS coil? I'm guessing w/ the MSD you have alot of cutting and splicing unlike the Accel which is a factory replacement. I forgot what it looked like under your hood since I saw it last...do you have any pics or maybe we could meet up somewhere and you could show me how you set everything up.

MSD makes a factory replacement coil also, 8228 is the part number. Like the Accel though, you do need a wiring harness adapter for 98 and up trucks.

I've seen the direct replacement coil but that doesn't put out as much juice as the SS coil tho does it?

They show a coil PN#8228 for 91-96 Dodges but it should work w/ 01's right?

to hook up the msd you have to cut the coil wires anyway... so you might as well use the ss coil.

mike, i have my SS coil and MSD box behind the battery. there is BARELY enough room, but they will both fit

Problem w/ mine is on the '01s they have that black cylinder w/ the green knob behind the battery now where on older models that was mounted on the firewall near the top of the engine. So I think the behind the battery is out.

i mounted kris' ss coil between the ABS controller and the relay/fuse box... right up against the fender. There is a little spot right there for it.

Accel makes a wiring harness adapter to use their coil with 98 and newer trucks. You can use that same adapter to use the MSD with 98 and newer trucks. I think the Accel part number is 120021AH. Then you don't have to cut any wires.

Where did Kris mount the ignition box? His is an '01 too I think so he would've had the same deal behind the battery that I had.

kris put it behind his battery like mine and kota's. His is a 2002 and it just barely fits. He also has the smog equipment where yours is.
