Well what do used go for 15-17? And I dont think your going to find a new one with a shakerhood and pcm let alone a finished bed. The things only got 10,000 miles on it and they havent changed anything what so ever performance wise on them since they started makin the damn things.

Iv seen beat up R/T's with 50 thousand miles on them that go for 18-19 thousand I dont think 20 thousand is too unrealistic.

(Not getting sh-tty with ya. :P just explaining how I came to this price)

The stark reality is that its only worth what someone is willing to pay you for it.

I'm not putting you or your truck down, as I'm sure its a primo piece, its just that no matter how much you seem to spend on mods, you never really get any of it back.

Most people either do not appreciate, or, for that matter, care how much time, money, and sweat you put into a vehicle. Just ask the guys who restore cars. They hardly ever get fair compensation when they try to sell them.

Hope you get your price, Big59er...

I fully agree with ya fubar.

Ford would only give me 12 thousand for it for trade in. Basically the invoice price for the a 2wd 2000 Dakota CC these days.

Funny thing was I still owe 13 thousand on the thing so if I traded it in towards a new car I might want, ill actually come up 1000 dollars less than I would if I just bought the car flat out.

I'm goina keep on truckin though. A buddy of mine was interested in it and went over to the bank to see if he could afford the financing so hopefully that works out.

I love my truck and im going to miss it, just found something else im more interested in at the moment.

Dealers..jeez, don't get me started on that subject!

Its almost as if they take a sick delight in seeing how badly they can insult you at trade-in time.

They'll do everything in their power to convince you that their product is the best thing since sliced bread, go out of their way to make sure you spend as much money as possible in purchasing and financing a vehicle, then, they'll insult you when you trade it in for a newer model.

As for being 'upside-down' on your loan, that's so damned common today.

Fubar, Yeah, well the salesman was telling his boss "Man this thing needs to be in a show room, you dont come across a dakota like this everyday". And while he was on the phone he was writing some stuff and I saw he had 12,000$ underlined, and I was thinking oh must be how much we have left to pay on the truck. Then he got off the phone and said thats how much they were going to offer. Of course I didnt get short with the salesman because it wasnt his fault.

Anyway the salesman was like "During the winter months 2wd performance vehicles lose there value because people are looking for vehicles that will handle nasty weather better. So thats why we had to knock a few thousand off." So then I was like.. well since I'd be trading it for another performance car (mach1) I guess you can knock a couple thousand off on it then before I put a down payment on it.

well last month i traded my 00 reg cab R/T with 45k on her for my 99' cc R/T i have now with 28k..they gave me 15,600 for the damn thing...truck was in fair shape but i was shocked..few months back i was going to trade it on a new GT and ford was only showing me 12 grand for trade and it had less miles...i got my truck at a Dodge dealer..i'm thinking that mad a difference...they know what values these trucks have...irony is i originally paid 15k for the 00' R/T at a ford dealership...i ended paying a little under 17k for my cc so i think that was fair...i seen my truck other day at dealership there asking 16 for it...damn truck sure can hold it's value...

My low mile 2000 R/T went through the trade saga as well. It's really hard to tell what the "real" price they are offering in trade because it really depends on how much room they have on what you are buying. When I was used car shopping I go offered as much as $13,000 for my R/T ($13,800 if I would have put new rear tires on it) but when I went to get a new Dakota quad at invoice pricing from the Dodge dealer they only offered $10,000 for the Dakota trade. I told them "why would I but another Dakota if the resale was that bad?". Bottom line the used car market is very, very low right now because of all that 0% financing brought in a ton of nice trades. When I was used car shopping they had $4000 on the retail price they were asking to inflate my trade in value. The used car market is where the money is right now. Bottom line the Dakotas really aren't that bad, my truck after all rebates probably cost about $18-19,000 new and it still will bring $11-12,000 in trade, and $13-14,000 as a private party sale. I was looking at getting a 99 Grand Cherokee Limited that cost $35,000 new and they were only asking $18,000 which means they probably only gave $14 or $15,000 for it on a trade. Jeeps supposedly have the highest resale of any domestic brand according to JD Powers.

Try looking at kelly blue book trade in value. The dealers love kelly blue book because they have the biggest spread between trade in and retail. They will try and give you trade in and sell for retail and make $5000 on every thing that comes in the door. Try www.nada.com or www.edmunds.com they have more realistic pricing.

Remember though with the Cobra were talking basically about an upgraded version of the Cobra R suspension (hell its suppposed to be as quick too).

My dad has had his GN up to 145 and he said its very stable up that high. I have faith that if an 87 G-body doesnt have trouble with it then I shouldnt have a problem with it in a 38 thousand dollar car.
