Subject: Have a '99 V6 Dak. wanna make it fast!!!

So far, all I have is a 7" Intense Performance intake and I relocated the IAT sensor into the intake tube. Next, I want to get a 180deg. thermostat, Flowkooler hi-flow water pump, shorter gears, a TQ converter, and 1.6 ratio roller-rockers... For appearance, I am gonna get some 20" R/T-style chrome rims from premier automotive and some nice tires(Nitto's, Kumho's, or Yokohama's), not to mention Cervini's Sniper kit when(or if) it comes out.

Later on, I wanna save up and get a Garrett T4 Turbo kit, 24# FordMotorSports injectors (hear a lot of good things about em), a new suspension kit (including swaybars and new shocks), the roadmaster active suspension shocks (that mount to the leafsprings to prevent them from rolling on take-off), and a good camshaft.. I want to make this a bad-ass truck... like BernD's.:) It might take a while though... Lot of money to save.

Anything else that I should plan on getting, or anything I should get instead of what I listed?

If you want to add performance-- don't bother with stock 1.6 ratio rockers-- Go for 1.7 ratio rockers-- headers, etc.

I sell the 1.7s (Crower)... Crower has them in stock, ready to ship.

I was wondering if I should ditch the V6 and save up for a V8 instead... Would that be the best thing to do?

Speaking of V8's, I saw a 408 short-block on krcperformance.com that really caught my eye.:) Still, the 360 seems pretty impressive too.

The best thing you could do acctually is buy one of the magnum crate motors that are set up for a carb, ditch the fuel injection, you will tap into more of the engines power with a carb. At least thats been my experience, i had a 89 stang with a 302 HO motor in it and I picked up a little ove half a second at the track just from going to a carb. Just my 2 cents.

actualluy, the biggest ci motor you could put in it would be a 528ci Hemi, but if you could bore it and stroke it, well it would be more cubes of course. I'm a hemi freak and i've done the calculations and it is possible to swap in a 528ci hemi but it would be alot of work.

All I know is what I've read from here and on sites about engines and automotive stuff...

You can do it, but it requires changing A LOT of stuff; Transmission, differential, gears, PCM, and other things... Pretty much anything that has to do with "moving" the truck.

But if a 528 Hemi can really be fit into a Dak, by God, I wanna put one in instead of a 360 or a 408!

The thing is that a crate 528ci Hemi will cost you about 18K for Mopar Performance. As for swaping in a 360 or a 408, i've seen a kit for doing just that, but i don't remember where i saw it. If I remember i'll drop you guys a line.

I'm not planning on dropping a big engine in anytime soon... I'm gonna wait till im in college and when my Dak is paid off, which is not much longer. I might settle for a 360, cause I kinda wanna keep this thing street-legal.

to do a v6 to v8 transplant all you really need is the motor, wire harness, computer and torque converter if its a 5.9. I believe the v6 tranny can take a lot of power....
