I purchaced a 2002 Dekota quad cab 4 x 4, 4.7 in November of 2001. I now have 13,000 miles, mostly Highway or Interstate and my average is around 14.5 mixed. I am considering a K & N filter replacement, and dual exhaust. Will this help my mpg by more then 2 or 3? I love the truck, and will drive 150,000 miles, so now is the time to change. Will these changes affect warrenties?

Ron, you drive alot!

I put 13,000 on in 12 months. But we did get the truck we wanted to drive it!

I have a 01, 4.7 QC 5spd, got the K&N drop in filter, didn't really notice much if any change.

I was interested in duals also, and after alot of searches, someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but the exhaust system on Dodge is already pretty good. The duals did nothing for a nearly stock motor, some cases even less output on a dyno.

I now also have a homebrew intake, easy as h#$ll to do. Very little money.

My 4.7 get around 16-18 mixed, 20 fast highway only. My 5 spd helps a litte also.

RON,,,
Do you have a 4.10 ratio or something different?? I have 2001 5.2 also, off-road short bed...I also get only 8.5 city mph and 11-12 highway...think the gear ratio might be it,,check and see what you have.. I have 10,000 miles on mine and still get same gas mileage.

2002 5.9 R/T

I got 12 city/ 15 hwy when I bought it, then I added the following mods: K&N FIPK, Autolite 3923's, MOPAR wires, brass cap, removed clutch fan, 50mm TB, Gibson Exhaust, BG Chrysler custom PCM flash......now I get 9 MPG's !!! This sucks!

I posted earlier on another mpg thingy. I got a 3.9L 4X4 cc, and i just got my mpg: 13.7. It is horrible, but it does weigh 5 g's.

The duals on the exhaust only hurt us V6 guys. For the V8's they are healthy for ya, so go for it - they sound great and better all around(my buddy has one)
