Subject: Changing from Multi-point injection

I have a little problem here. I have a 3.9L Magnum, and I have a non-magnum 360ci. I want to put the 5.9L in the Dakota but it's setup for throttle body injection and the wiring on the Dakota is setup for multi-point. Is there a way I can splice into a wiring or a pin in a V8 pcm so I don't have to run all new wiring? Has anybody done something like this before?

Thanks
Dan

Just guessing here but ... I suspect, if you replaced everything from the intake manifold up with Magnum parts (I'm not sure of the compatibility issues here), including the fuel rail, sensors, PCM, etc. etc. .. it MIGHT work.

Another option, if you're really keen on getting that 360 in there .. is a stand alone aftermarket EFI managment system ... e.g. FAST www.fuelairspark.com

then you'd have to fab up all custom stuff from there. A big job. but possible.

I would personally go with the FAST if i was in your shoes. You're already talking big bucks to do the conversion.. might as well go all out!

Dan,

motor mounts for your gen dak (98?) are the same weather you are going with a 6er or your premag 360.
get a shop manual for your year truck for the electrical. you need this for your accessories, tranny, etc.

from Jeg's:
ECU (6000rpm) orange box
MP Distributor
wiring harness
ballast resistor
Kit 312-P3690426 $191.99
Aeromotive fuel regulator
027-13205 $81.99
or
Mr. Gasket easy regulator
720-9710 $30.99 (cheap @ss)

from MP:
headers
#P5249527 $??? no prices on web

from dealer:
oil pan
#??? $??? closed 30 mins ago. :-(

that's all you need that is out of the ordinary. of course you need to get everything that you would on a full blown tune up. what ever plugs that you have that are used for the rest of the truck (not the engine) reuse them. use the book so you can find what wires go to what on your accessories. pull the check engine light out of the dash, unless you don't care it's on, because it will always be lit since the engine sensors are not there for a premag. take out the mechanical fuel pump out of the motor and cut out a plate to bolt on to cover the hole. your stock fuel pump is okay if you are leaving the 360 pretty much stock. run your fuel line to the regulator and then to the carb, just as you would do to any other car/truck. the 6er shroud won't fit anymore so you need to either get one for an 8 or just leave the damn thing off. if you hook everything up right (electrically) your speedo/volt meter/fuel guage will still work. you'll need to buy aftermakerket old school guages for your temp/oil pressure/tach. If you just take your time in doing this swap, it will be fairlly easy with minumal !@$#&$$@%#. :-) If you come arcoss or have any questions, you can email me @ moparman732000@yahoo.com, or you can give me your number and I'll call you.
