Can a fuel pump be putting out the correct pressure but not the correct volume? My pump is humming like a bird and you can here it over the engine, but it is putting out 50psi @ idle and holds 45 @ key off. I have pulled the pump and the filter is clean.
Ive been working on this prob for months but to no avail it persists. I do not want to have to trade it in for a FERD.
The truck stumbles every day hot or cold at the same time just about 1 minute after it starts (every time). The pump is only 8 months old and the tank has never been run dry. All sensors are new (except the cam pos n crank pos), and the distributor is indexed correctly. Any other suggestions guys? Its like it tries to lean out heavily after start up mode. It also doesnt have the pep it used to.

Its a 96 3.9

if your pump is holding 50 psi @ idle, thats ok. also holding 45 psi after you shut it down, thats cool too. but normally what happens when your pump starts making whining noises it on the verge of stranding you. i have seen some pumps go loud and last but its not likely. i dont know how much id trust it if i were you.

The otehr thing to check is what does the fuel pressure do as you reve the engienr, It could be building the pressure but not holding it as demand increases. I would think this is the probelm... But eiter way changing the pump is good insurance...

The pressure does not change when I give it gas. I still do not trust the pump but I may be leaning taward a bad PCM.
