Once again I come to ask for help. I went to my local Pep Boys to get a Borg Warner brass cap & rotor, good thing I brought the part numbers I got here because they had no listing. Then I ask for an Accel Super Coil and guess what.. NO LISTING! (The story of my life with this truck) Anyone know the part number for the coil? Once again, I THANK YOU!

Big G,

I checked with the part numbers from Chuck's intense 99 dak website and he listed:

Accel Super coil..........140021
Accel harness adapter for '98 & newer.......140021AH

This was for a '99. I'm hoping this would fit a '01. I can't see why not. The harness adapter is for a grey connector, I think. Perhaps someone who has installed the Accel Suer coil on a '00/'01 already can give their opinion. I'll probably make this mod in couple of months. Good luck.

Big G,

You're doing all that to an 01?

Wishing you'd got the 4.7? Better MPG, Power, and no need to put ANY of that on the 4.7 to boot!

1996 3.9 V-6 in a Dodge Van
IP: Logged

Message:
I wish to install dual exhaust and, if possible headers to my 1996 Dodge van, it has a 3.9 V-6. The exhaust/smog control system incorporates an oxygen sensor before and after the catalytic converter. I live in California and according to the muffler shop should I install any type of dual exhaust system the computer will mis-read the signals from the O2 sensors thereby causing the vehicle to either run poorly or fail the smog test which must be done here every 2 years.

I know the vehicle will run better with duals. Any products available and/or ideas as to working around the double oxy sensor issue??

you could use a cat box and run 2 mufflers and high flow cats-one for each pipe.the cat box would take care of the computer and the cats will give better emissions than the single stock one

Thank you....the 2 shops I've spoken seem very gun shy about this issue. Meanwhile, my converter has started rattling like a son of a gun.

The damn thing has 180K plus miles and keeps plucking away but that just makes it a true gutless wonder.

go to krcperformance.com Marty Fletcher can sell you a cat box. This will "lie" to your computer and tell it everthing is o.k with your single cat and 02 sensors(cat box acts as the single cat as if it were new and operating eficciently) while allowing your true duals to work their magic.Prob'ly a couple hundred or so for the box,but I'm sure your 3.9 is the same as any chrysler 3.9.The block and heads have remained virtually unchanged since 90 or 91.Most parts like rockers ,t/bs,injectors,pistons,rods,etc. that fit 318's also fit the 3.9.It's weird, though, that alot of aftermarket companies stop their application listings around 96-97.Up to 2001 or 02 when the 3.7 took over, all this stuff fits with some kind of adapter or most times without any kind of adaptation at all.I attribute this to the laziness of the R&D teams for these companies AND the fact that only freaks like us wish to tweak up a v6.AS for the mechanics that stone wall you when you ask them about this...they are told ;by whomever it is that 'tells mechanics stuff',that it is a violation of federal law to remove any catalytic coverter that is working,so naturally they will get pretty creative(or dumbfounded) when you back them against that "wall" ...food for thought. If a doctor had a cure for cancer, would it be in his best interest to give it away?Or do you think he'd hide it so he can keep on making money off of you?I dunno maybe I'm just paranoid?
