Subject: CAT Removal - CW?
IP: Logged

Message:
I've got a quick question for someone more experienced than myself.

I have a `99 Dak R/T CC.
My mods are: K&N Coldair, IAT Relocate, Mopar PCM, TPS @ .76V, Headman Headers, DynoMax high-flo Cat, Flowmaster Series 40 3"-3".

I've heard a few Dak 5.9's that "supposedly" had the cat removed and a muffler such as a Series 40 installed with "no other mods." I was blown away by the sound.

I don't have to worry about emmisions/sniffer tests where my truck is regisitered. Any drawbacks? Should I notice any power, mileage, etc? I don't believe any computer codes will trip... will they?

Thanks in advance!
A fellow Dak....

you souldn't have any problems by removing the cat,i'm fixing to remove mine to,because it will sound better and flow better, the cat is more restictive than your stock muffler is,by taking it off everything sould only get better, your motor will breath like it sould.

The '99s have a single cat that has a o2 sensor behind it. I do recommend getting a cat box even if you don't get a check engine light. The computer will try and make up the difference by adjusting the fuel mixture to make the after cat O2 sensor respond the way it should.

Thanks for the input!

What is the easiest way for me to obtain a "cat box" close to me?

Thanks!

I think Conig knows how to build one. You could buy them from speedweaks.ne or KRCperformance.com
