I do SCCA Club Rally with my truck! I have a 92 dakota LE. It has a 318, with an aftermarket tranny. I run an open exhaust with a glasspack, for some sound absorbtion. I also run Rancho 5000 shocks with thicker anti-sway bars. For lighting, im running new headlight housings with two, (used to be four) hella 3000's. I will be eventaully be getting into Pro Rally, I just need to get my Pro Rally license! Here's a site that can help you.

Everyone in rally racing will probably tell you that it is best
to buy a used rally car rather than trying to build one yourself.

I've been racing for six years, and I've ran sweep (closed course,
"professional driver") in my truck a few times, it does pretty darn
good, but trucks are BIG, HEAVY, and in general can not compete against lightweight sports cars in rally racing.

But, if you are set on using your truck, DO IT !
Have fun, I know you will !

The Best website for rally info, discussions, etc:
http://207.167.75.234/ss/forum/cgi-bin/dcforum/dcboard.cgi

(You can ask questions about building your truck in the car construction forum, I'm sure you will get a huge amount of
responses ! )

DakotaFreak: What class do you run ? Where you at ?
First or Last name ? (I'd like to look up the results of
any rallies which you've entered)
Maybe I don't remember my rules SCCA ClubRally
rules that well, but what class can you run with over
5.0 Litres ? Open ? Production ? G5 ?

Hey Ole. Well lets here, when I run my truck in club rally events I have to run in open class because I'm 5.2 liters. Its sucks because I run with the hotshots. Since im not turbo charged or super charged and i dont have AWD, i dont do that well. I just love the sport, and its alot of fun. Alot of people come up to me and ask questions and gaze at my truck. Its rare that you see a Dakota LE rallying. I live in Rochester NY, my first name is laslo. The last rally i attended was Black River Stages. I did not compete in that rally. The last rally i competed in was at the NY national rally. Since the rally season around here is winding down, i doubt ill be able to get another race in this year. So you were the closing course car, thats cool. I know a couple rally masters that run the 00 car. That would be a cool job to have. Do you rally, what type of car/truck. Where abouts do you live. If you want to give me your first name, shoot!

Dakotafreak:

I'm a navvie.

I spent this year running the national series with Jason Rivas (5th overall {?} at Black River Stages with a different navvie) in a "full spec" Group-N Subaru WRX STI. I was hoping to run Charlevoix, but that didn't quite happen (yet).
I know a few guys back east, and I know your
season won't start till much later in the spring
(oh, except for Maine Winter Rally, Dec. 7 ?)

My first name is Ole, I live in Long Beach, Ca.

Good luck rallying the Dak !
(it's all about the fun factor)

Hey jon. I dont know of any Rally events held in Lima. The ones that your talking about arent held by SCCA. THe closest ralley events that are held near Rochester are the Black River Stages, the Susquehanna rally, and the NY National rally. I also do alot of traveling to rally events. There is one coming up in Houghton Michigan. That event is called LSPR (Lake superior Pro rally) That is like 12 hours away from Rochester. That rally is the year ending rally for SCCA. It would be a good rally to check out, for the pro rally circuit atleast.
