Any suggestions for inexpensive perf mods for a 4.7 Dak. Looking to spend $500-$1k. What was worth the $$$. Going to do the home grown cold air intake. What's next, headers, catback, PCM?

Anyone know how to defeat the 95MPH governor on the 2000 4.7 Dak?? PCM swap?

Thanks, DW

to boost a lil hp from ur 4.7, relocate the iat sensor to tha air intake after the filter for one. get rid of the 3rd cat, good muffler of your choice, you can build an adjustable coolant temp sensor if you know ur stuff, or i can hook u up with tha setup. remove clutch fan, if u want the trans to shift a lil harder, unplug the line pressure sensor, ive got alot more things like this to share to anyone who wants to know

Get the Mike Leach flash for your computer. That would do more than anything.

Thanks slow2dak, Everything sounds good, continue on with the advice. Does the adjustable coolant temp sensor drop the temperature where the fan kicks on. What do you have on the adj. coolant sensor.

Anyone know if the electric fan will cool the engine while towing. I would hate to pull the fan off and have overheating problems towing my 2000# boat to the lake. Lots of hills to climb. Thanks

just keep the fan and a wrench with you when
you're gonna tow something, you can pop it on
in a few minutes.

# 1 thing is the HO cams from Jeep. it is a parts counter part. Also think about a air intake kit, remove the 3rd cat, possibly exhaust, and a larger TB...

Cams: $150
Air iNtake kit: $90-300
Remove 3rd Cat: $30
Exhaust: $200-500
TB: $130-$???

hey whitedak i had the same problem all you have to do is hit the wrench with a hammer conterclockwise,it probly does give you more hp but the temp. will go up a bit in town if your not running your ac because if your ac isn't on then your electric fan won't be on.

If you just remove the clutch fan and don't replace it with an electric, It's prolly a good idea to get a 180 degree thermostat (like 10 bucks) to replace the stock 195

check on the post labeled "45RFE" posted by
DCtech, he said it was possible to unplug the
line pressure sensor, creating firmer shifts, I
think he said this was done on their 3.7
Liberty.

Intake, AIT and TPS worked
IP: Logged

Message:
I made the home brew intake, relocated the AIT into the cold air tube and adjusted the TPS to .725V. Throttle response is excellent now and it seems to have more power. Don't know about the power though, might seem more powerful because it's louder.

The Cold air intake is a great mod, homebrew or aftermarket. What is nice about the intake I made is that it's not noticeable during normal acceleration or crusing, but mash the pedal and the sound is awsome.

Anyone have a whistling sound at light throttle while crusing on freeway with this type of setup. The sound comes and goes depending on the RPM and throttle position. Don't think there is a leak in the intake tube as the sound only incerases at high engine vacuum, throttle mostly closed and goes away when the throttle is closed or opened more.

What does relocating your IAT sensor do?
How do you do it?
And is it worth it?
I have a Volant Cold Air Intake.
I would also like some info on how to piss w/ the TPS on my 2002 4.7L.
If I remove my 3rd cat, will it set off any check engine lights or make it so that the truck doesn't pass inspection?
Any tips for a 2002 4.7L would be greatly appreciated.

By relocating the Intake Air Temperature sensor to a location where it senses cooler (denser) air than normal, the pcm will richen your mixture to keep the air/fuel ratio correct. For instructions on how to do it, go to SpeedTweaks and look in the 'Tips and Tricks' section. It doesn't look to difficult and it's practically free except for the price of a 1/4" pipe thread plug to plug where the sensor was (and the extra gas you will use by richening your mixture =).
A lot of people are removing their clutch driven fans and going with just the electric fan to take some drag off the engine (free).
