I bought my '98 Club Cab R/T back in Jan. of this year for $11,000. Basically stock other than 2" lower in the front and 4" lower in the back. I changed the back to a 2" lower drop to give the truck a better look IMO. See my sig. for the other mods I've done since. Hope this helps.

Right now ALL resale values suck, not just Dakotas. This 0% stuff thats been going on now since a year ago has just flooded the used car market with 2-5 year old nice cars. Dakotas are pretty inexpensive to begin with when you factor in all rebates that have pretty much always been at least $2000. Means you could have bought your R/T for probably $17,000 when it was new, and you can still pick up a brand new 2003 for under $20,000. So most cars and trucks will lose at least 1/2 their value in 5 years so auction value on a 98 R/T is probably $8-9,000. A dealer will try make at least $3000 on everything they sell to "cover their costs" (and build a seven figure house on the hill), so a dealer would probably want $12,000 if you were buying your truck. Look at KBB's trade in values for a good wholesale lowball price, but www.edmunds.com seems to have more honest retail and private party pricing. Don't expect to get Edmund's trade-in value unless you are paying retail for whatever you are trying to get. If you think the R/T's resale is bad, look at a 98 Chevy full size, they cost easilly $25,000 new, upwards into the 30's and they are all over for about $15,000 on dealer lots. Means they are probably $12,000 in the auctions. So those guys paid $8,000 to $10,000 more then a Dakota R/T and are only getting $2,000 more now. The fact that they redesigned the Chevy and made it so much better in 99 just kills the 98's.
