Subject: 408 Stroker on V6
IP: Logged

Message:
Is it possible to put most the stroker kit in the v6. because if the pistons will fit the 5.2L they will fit the 3.9L. And has any one done yet? If possible how much HP would i be looking at?

Injection is nice, but i'd rather be blown.

im thinking also of stroking my V-6 atleast that way i dont have to worry about SMOG Related things i can have the Crank Stroked for 150 dollars as for the 408 Stoker Kit fitting the V-6 there is no way it won't fit the 5.2l either the Stroke on the 5.9l is way different, the 360 has a 3.58 stroke and the 318 has a 3.31 stroke and the mains are larger also thats why the 360 oil pan doesn't fit but as for stroking the 3.9l it pretty much straight foward just find a Stroker Kit for a 318 and see what the STROKE is and have your crank reground the same and walla.

This may be off the beaten path of the bore and stroke query but do they have 3.9 V6 to V8 conversion packages? I know they had them for the Fiero 2.8's but I was just curious if they did that with other engines.

a conversion IS leagle. at least it is in CA. the only thing is, the engine has to come out of a car that is earlier than the vehicle (example: a 99 360 can go into a 98 truck)

a stroker engine mostlikely will not pass smog.

a stroker is also harder to tune than a stock V8. you will probably need a split second box, and a lap top. and even then it might take a while to figure out the program.

Not always required (S/S boxes). We've got two 408's running without any "boxes" on them. Just don't go too crazy on the head/cam combo and you'll be fine.
