I have a '99 Dakota 5.2 4x4 SLT and want to make it FAST (12 sec fast) Any tips on where to start? I have a budget of approx $10k and a full shop at my disposal.

Thanx!

Well, thats -one way to do it...

Unfortunatly, that didn't answer his question at all. You have 10Gs you say? Hmm... maybe this?

Mopar Performance Cast Crank
High-Flow oil pump
H-Beam Racing Connecting Rods (Lighter!)
Keith Black flat-top pistons with valve reliefs
Double Roller Timing Chain
Custom Ground Roller Camshaft
H/P Chrome-Moly Pushrods
1:6.1 Ratio Roller Rockers
Ported and Cleaned R/T Heads
Head Bolt Kit
High LB rating Valve Springs
52mm Throttle Body
M1 2-bbl intake
180 Degree T-stat
Accel 300+ (or MSD) Ignition
Borg & Warner Cap/Rotor
JBA 9mm Power cables
Custom PCM Flash
24LB FMS Fuel Injectors
High-Flow Catlytic Convertor
High-Flow exhaust w/ Performance Muffler
SuperCharger (Paxton?)
Oil-cooler (Definatly!)

Dunno if that'll get you into the 12s though. 4x4s have a lot of power-loss do to the huge drive-train system. You could also put in some 3.92 Rear-end gears, or maybe 4.10s if you don't ever go on the highway for long periods of time.

Ugh... need sleep...

On the rods and pistons above, try to get them as light and strong as possible. Using lighter parts in the rotating assembly will result in a faster reving engine. Faster reving is good. :0)

If you have an Auto, also look into a Torque Convertor with a higher-stall RPM for better launching. Maybe a shift kit in the Auto tranny as well... anything you can do to lighten the truck won't hurt either.
