can i put a v8 5.2 in replacement of a 3.9 without redoing the whole comp system... i know the engine will fit right in ots just a 3.9 with two more cylndes on the end but cant i just get a v8 pcm??

I'm going to do the same thing in the next year or two. I have a 97 Dakota R/C with a 3.9L and I found that the main 2 thing's that I'm going to have to replace is the engine wiring harness and the computer. I'm going with a 360 maybe a supercharger with it.

I have done the swap ..... dont forget the V8 coil springs in the front end ... the V6 ones wont hold the weight of the V8 right ... you will have handling problems

so brian g howe did it go did you need a new wiring harness any new mounts a new ranny im real interested and d=my mechanic doesnt really know and wont until he dives into it any heads up would be much appreciated thanks

If the 5.2L and 4.7L are the same spring I have a 8000 mile old pair I've been meaning to get rid of.
