You knew it was going to happen, we all knew it, but sooner than later some Ego saturated GM designer was going to make a Mid-Size Pickup Truck. The mid-size pickup truck market up until this year was a Dodge exclusive genre. GM decided that they would release a mid size pickup, resembling a crossbreed between a sierra and a S-10 in its cosmetic details. It will have four door quad cab capability, and will boast a powertrain variety that will cater to any consumer. from the I-4, I-6, 3800, 4300, and the bigger badder V8's all the way up to the 5.7 Vortec. Now I love my Dakota, but I'm still a little curious about this one. This Truck will be making its public debue at the Auto Shows around the country starting at the NAIAS in Detroit. Take a look at this truck if you get a chance and let us know what you think.

Last I heard, this truck was only going to be available with the inline 4 and 5 cylinder versions of the Vortec 4200 Six. No competition for the Dakota with V-8 availability. However, where it to have an LS1 available, I would definitely have to take a test drive. BTW, I don't think they make the Vortec 5.7 anymore. Replaced by the 4.8/5.3/5.7/6.0 line of LS1 engines.

BAH!.. I have seen a picture of this colorado truck in a magazine one time. yeah sure its nice, but it has NOTHING on a Dakota. The Dakota, i believe has a BRIGHT BRIGHT Future, and look what it has done already through the years. And another thing, When we do start seeing these pretty mid-size Colorado`s on the road with their pretty boy drivers, atleast all us DieHard Dakota Owners WILL ALWAYS get to say we are the original owners of the FIRST REAL midsize trucks on the Road, and all rest are just Followers and Copy Cats.

First of all the s10 soon to be the colorado will only be offering two engines the i4 and i5 which is the same engine the new trailblazer with the exception of one less clinyder. The i5 will produce 240HP and 240TQ. The i6 in the trailblazer has 270HP and 270TQ the only reason Gm will not be putting the i6 in the colorado is because they are charging $35,ooo for the Trailblazer with that engine and the base price for the Colorado is 18-20 thousand.

They have already tested I4 and Turbo I5 and Non-Turbo I5. I perdict that the first 1-2 years the I4 and I5 will be the only choice. Once the demand is their they will probably make either the all aluminum V8 used in the trailblazer avaiable or the Turbo I5. It is a nice looking truck but I think they are missing the mark with their engine choices. I think it should be a choice between the I5 and Turbo I5 in the two wheel drive and the Turbo I5 or the 4.8 V8 in the 4Wheel drive. They should offer two trim levels bare bones or fully loaded and offer them with or with out the heavy duty group wich would include beefed up alternator, brakes, springs, tow hitch, shocks, oil and trany coolers and rtadiator. The HD group would sport a single tasteful HD symbol on each fender. But you wait and see the Marketing Idiots at GM will find a way to screw it up and the bean counters will find a way to cheapen everything up so that ever day we will get a new TSB for every single damm part on the truck. After 1 to 2 years of TSB and 2nd design fixs the truck will be almost as good as the engineiers origanaly designed it before bean counter cheapened everything up and the marketing people forced engineiering to up HP to meet some magical number for the brouchure!!!! GM is the greatest car company on earth with the best resources and the worst execution!!! It makes me sick to see the Japanese build them the way we should!!!!!

who thinks the silverados look ugly? such a turd, i guess even dumb people bought an avalanche so they figured if they changed the face of the silverado more people would want that! LOLthe taillights kinda look like the new ram's taillights. Anyone seen the new billboard of a big picture of the ram front end with "actual size(how it appears in your rearview mirror"?

I Can't believe this statement realesed by GM :

Exterior Design:
By the time it appears in 2004, the Colorado will share much of its aggressive looks with the rest of the GM truck family - similar to the 2002 Avalanche.

Is it me, or is the Colorado one butt ass ugly truck. I would rather drive a 1979 puke green honda accord with bald tires and an orange door. Hell, I would rather drive a 1972 Ford LTD with 3 different size tires, an oil leak, and a sagging headliner before I would EVER drive (own) the Colorado...

But hey, that is just me. Who knows...some mentally deficient individual with the sense of style of Christopher Lowell (for those of you who know who he is...God bless you) might...just might...buy one.
