Subject: ? for Duner or CW on 4.7

My 4.7 has not been starting and running as good as it had been(I have not changed anything lately). I am thinking that it is one of my fuel injectors, but not sure? How can you tell?

Also, I am planning on changing them to a higher quality/possible higher flow and wanted to get an opinion on what is best/cheapest.

My truck is a 2000 4.7 cc auto and my mods are 4.10 gears, leach pcm, high flow cat, high flow muffler, cold air intake, ported tb, tps @7.4, IAT adjuster, no fan(only electric), 180ts, others.

Basically what would be the best injectors, and also what would you suggest as a good set of performance spark plugs?

The truck has been doing good, but seems it should be better(especially at high rpm's) At the track I have run 9.53 @70mph in the 1/8th at sea level in 90+ weather with a short belt.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Not sure if this is the same as what mine was doing, It cwould crank much longer and occasionally not catch after about 3-4 seconds of cranking. Then on the second time it would kinda bang, like the cylinders were full of fuel then start. I put in the HO cams and it now starts and runs much better, though ZI think there is more to be had in the higher RPM's...

Maybe it is time for injectors for both of us...

I hope you meant to say that your TPS was at .74V and not 7.4V. That would cause a pretty serious problem in it's own right.

I will let Duner field this one. I haven't tried playing with injectors on these yet. I am pretty sure they are 21lb injectors. Bosch are the ones to get, from where I am not sure.

Duner: Did you have to change the connectors on your harness to go with the 24s?

I went to here:

www.fiveomotorsport.com/Injector_Sets.html

and ordered the 21# XF-1E models. They are Bosch versions of the Design III injectors so they just plug right in. I believe the factory injectors are 19# but I forget where I found that. I asked Marty at KRC about the 24# versions and he says they will just run too rich and mess with the computer settings over the long term. The only reason you need to go to 24# is to compensate for forced induction or some truly CUSTOM computer work. The Leach flash and the 21# injectors have worked well together.

I did them at the same time I did my HO Cams & HO Intake, so I can't really confirm or deny any performance gains.

They were $282 shipped to Atlanta from California but they are pink. Bruce at 5-0 motorsport is a stand-up guy who will give you a good deal.

The injectors I mentioned above are not listed on the website, but Bruce has them in stock. Just tell him you need 21# models for a 4.7 motor.

Duner; are you out there? I am very interested to find out your opinion on the injectors.

Also, what is everyone's opinion on the best plugs for 4.7 in my set up?

at the risk of speaking on Duner's behalf ... I'm pretty sure he was running stock injectors right up until he put his turbo on .. and even then for a bit until they cratered on him .. I think he's got the 24# Bosch injectors now though.

I'd have to go with alex on this: stock are 19# injectors, running 49 (?) psi .. upgrading them may not be neccesary .. but maybe it is .. 21# would probably be plenty big.

If I were you, I'd get a wideband O2 sensor and a gauge, or put it on a dyno that has a wideband O2 sensor and see if you really are running lean or not.
