according to C&D an 02 mustang GT(im assuming an auto cause its real bad for a 5 speed)
has a 0-60 of 6.3 and 1/4 mile of 15.1
correct me if im wrong but dont some stock R/Ts run 14.9s and less??? does the really mean an R/T can take out a mustang?? whats the deal with that. a 5 speed nissan altima 3.5 is just as fast!! how could that be??? i mean i know an R/T has 250hp... but it weighs a lot more altima has 240...weighs less but its a V6 not a V8 with a whole lot of torque. mustang should toast both of these cars and 4.7 5 speeds with a 260 hp 4.6 V8

so is true or does C&D just have crappy drivers
i cant imagine a mustang GT running a 15.1...sounds too slow

I've run 13.98 with a totally stock '02 GT and 13.95 with a dead stock '00 GT, so the C&D drivers must really be babying the car. The Altima has a disadvantage in that it's front wheel drive. It does have a pretty hefty dose of TQ though (like 242ish Ft-Lbs). Altima runs 0-60 right around 6.1-6.2 seconds with a 5 speed (all stock components). I "think" it runs the 1/4 right about 15 flat, but I've never run one, so I can't accurately say. I have still never run my '02 CC 4.7L auto, but it's pretty stout. I'm guessing it's low to mid 16's in the 1/4 as is, but like I said, I've never ran it. Mustang GT's I know and race in frequently, but the others I can only guess.

well was urs a 5 speed or auto. cause ur numbers sound more right. although it could be the difference between the 5 speed and auto. altima runs a 14.8 but that is the 5 speed altima. the auto does 0-60 in 7.3 as opposed to 6.3

so if the stang is the same(as far as losing a second on the 0-60 due to transmission) this makes some sense. r/t has way more torque at lower rpms i think(345 lb ft as opposed to mustangs 302 at 4000rpm)
so if it does lose a second on 0-60 an auto mustang might run even with an R/T...unless urs was auto.

car-stats.com says
01 mustang GT manual 0-60 5.4 1/4 14
01 mustang GT conv. auto 0-60 6 1/4 14.7
01 dakota R/T 0-60 6.5 1/4 15
02 altima 5 speed 0-60 6.3 1/4 14.7

some have said R/Ts can run high 14s...its possible...look at the altimas 1/4 though...wow too bad V6 mustangs can't be like that...hehehe with their larger 3.8l engines(what piles of crap) i think there are more then a handful of I4s that can take out V6 stangs...shamful

well there arent that bad
0-60 7 1/4 15.5 thats the 5 speed though

The '00 and '02 GT stangs I drive are both 5 speeds. The auto does kill the GT performance greatly, but I'm not sure by how much. I would hope it wouldn't be 1.1-1.2 seconds difference, but then again I'd never drive/buy one that was an auto. I've got a 1999 Contour SE V6 with the MTX75 that will destroy most of the stock V8 Daks, but I think her clutch is on it's last leg. Last run with it was 14.92 @ 91.7 and the clutch was definitely not holding. I wish that car was a RWD. Dang thing would really fly for that engine (2.5L DOHC V6). Oh well, but that's my story...

was it a 2.5 or a 3.5 cause the 2.5s aren't all that slow. although i think an R/T would beat an auto altima..not a 5 speed though(unless the driver sucked)

i have had 5 mustangs over the years,my last was a 98 gt with a vortech supercharger.my 4.7 rc 5 speed 3:92 geared dak feels very similiar.(stock)i have nitrous on the truck and i could probably take the mustang at the track, unless i used slicks.(on the car)it spun violently on street tires at the track.even with traction bars.on the street my stang would be hard to beat.one of the fastest cars in my area (street legal that i raced was a lt1 camaro ss.i smoked him like nothing with the blower.a reg cab dak on nos or blown is a lethal weapon and would do good against most on the street.but there is always someone faster,no matter what you bring.my neighbor has a blown 94 gt,and we are taking it and my nitrous fed dak to the strip next thursday,if no rain.will definitely let you all know how it goes.

Demon Dakota , those 2.5/5 speed Contours do run pretty good . My Mother had one until about 2 months ago and it was pretty fun to drive. I took it to the track a few times and usually was in the 14.60's@93 mph , it had SVT heads and intake , K&N intake system and a Dynomax cat-back. She always had problems with the clutch though , went through 2 stockers and a centerforce dual friction and they always slipped a little.

Well ill tell ya man, if you do end up getting that GN there are plenty of websites out there of guys set ups that will get you into the low 12's for around 1000. 12 second car for 5000 bucks... Not to shabby at all.

Only mods I can think of that my dad is running off the top of my head is a fuel pump of some sort, boost regulator, chip of some sort, ram air, nitto 555R's in the rear. Found a fairly flat road and ran it with the G-tech and he pulled in a 13.1 at 109. He's been planning to get a T/A 49 turbo for sometime now but first he helped me pay for my shaker hood and then he bought those tires so he'll probably wait till this spring to think about getting it.

The 2.5L DOHC 60 Deg V6 that Ford used was actually developed by Porsche and came to Ford Europe with 250 N/A RWHP. Why the hell Ford decided to bump it down to 170 for the SE Contours and 200 for the SVT is still a mystrey to me. I guess they couldn't have the family grocery getter kicking the sh!t out of their pony car. That and they had a moron at the helm named Nasser. All I can say is thank God a Ford is running Ford right now.

I would race you with my SE-R but I don't have enough stickers on it yet. Also my stock exhaust isn't loud enough to win with. once I get my AEM and NOS stickers to go with my 4 ft wing and fart muffler then you and the mustang are toast...lol

syndrome or something huh!!! I prefer not to go higher than 60 in a 40 MPH zone. But you didnt know that did you. I'd like to keep my license. And who knows he might have even had shaky hand syndrome and caused a wreck. Isnt that right Demon dakota I mean he was obviously a bad driver right. Man i hate people who cant drive!!!!

Right On! He would probably spank me from a stand still but we didnt get the chance to do so. Just thought it was kinda crazy he didnt pull away from me. Its just that when i first got my Dak i ran it at MIR and ran a 15 flat without anything done to it and I got beat by a riced out civic. Put about 1000 dollars worth of parts into it and was suprised at the difference. Think I'm in the low 14's now thats all....especially if he didnt pull away from me. Anyways Next month when the Novi goes on I'm sure it'll definitely be a good race!!
