I seem to have struck a nerve in an email I sent to Hughes Engines yesterday. Mike pressed one to many buttons. Here are some comments I recieved:

"if we didn't think it was worthwhile we wouldn't be spending so much time on ported heads, modified intakes and camshafts"

"We aren't working on the 5.7 stuff yet"

"we do not have any idea what the specs on our own 4.7 cam as of yet."

"Our cam probably won't be ready until late this year or early next year.:

"We are working on all of the 4.7 parts as quickly as we can."

"We realize that there is some demand for these parts but the engine is going to have a short lived production run at Dodge."

"Figuring out the specs to grind the cams at is what takes so long."

Heh, I think I'm just going to leave them alone now.

I talked to Dave in March about 4.7 parts. He
did not think it was worth it to develop parts for
them. He is an old school guy. I just wish they
would take that 4.7 stuff off their web site. It
gives everybody false hopes. He told me if he
wanted to he could have heads and cams in
30days, but he does not want to spend any
time on it. HUGHES TAKE YOUR 4.7 INFO.
OFF YOUR WEB SITE.

whoa ... good work .. I think ...

At least they're admitting there's demand out here now.

I don't know about their short lived production of the 4.7L .. it'll be short lived like the 318 was short lived, if I was to guess. I mean that's what its replacing isn't it?

How typical.

Why would he want to hurry up and develop parts and generate sales/revenue when he could just put it off for a few years? Who knows, by then DC might not make these engines anymore and he would have been right. Of course - he ALSO wouldn't be generating sales and revenue for his company. He doesn't make any money off this engine this way.... but I'm sure it's way easier to just answer emails than it is to deposit checks!

Demand, no competition, people able and willing to buy.

I think someone failed economics.

Hughes is just waiting for someone else to develope it, so they can then copy it and offer it as their own.

Contact Jonas at Premier Automotive about any 4.7L product... Cams coming soon from Premier!
