I finally got them on the phone - the ASE chip only gives 10rwhp/10tq in the 4.7 in spite of the generic "10% average" claims in their literature. I decided it wasn't worth $350. BTW, I have a '01 4.7 4x4 Durango also (and a '99 3.9 Dak).

Do a search here for ASE. There is a post with
a before and after dyno. NO gain in HP or TQ.
Just another JET chip.

FYI guys: The ASE setup is the same as the Kenne Bell Optimizer II ... KB has ASE do their PCMs.

(coincidently the same price too $349)

Well that's what Tom at Mike Leach Co. said to me. Think about it, they offer the exact same things (I phoned them both and they game me an identical summary of what they do), for the exact same price, with the exact same turnover time, and they only recommend using it on stock or mildly modified trucks.

The only difference is that ASE said (they really hesitated when they said it) that they could up the speed limiter

i thought the ASE setup added a new chip to the PCM whereas the KB was a simple reflash?

ASE does add a chip. It can't be erased by a dealer reflash. It also isn't detectable by an OBDII reader. They will raise the speed limit and rev limit. The only down side of the ASE chips is they cut square in the side of the PCM casing to install it. They neatly epoxy it up when they are done. You won't be able to see it in the engine compartment because it's on the side that faces the fender when it's mounted.

The chip alone doesn't add a whole lot of performance. If you have other mods like an intake, cams, and free flowing exhaust, there is more of a noticable difference. That's the same with the custom flashes too.
