It's been 2 weeks since I got my dual Flowmasters w/ JBA headers done. Now I have a problem and I'm trying to figure it out. Around the y-pipe on the pass. side it gurgles from 1200-1900rpm with cruising at 50mph (a little up and down). If I put power into it, it goes away and totally stops at 2,000+. Finally, it won't do it while sitting, no matter how long or rpm. The guy at the perf shop said there is nothing wrong and its somewhat common for headers to (as he said) 'pop'. I've never head nor seen that before. ???????????????

JBA uses a ""firecone " cone at the collector with the Y pipe so that may be a unique sound from the exhaust pulses merging. Checked for leaks?

Where did you get the headers, I am leaning towards JBA also but would really like the Doug Thorley Tri-Ys, $$$ is too much for them.

I picked up the JBA from performanceconcepts.com, if you talk to them in person they will beat anyone else's quotes. Mine are ceramic that started at $500 and I got them for $395. I still think I got robbed, but I needed them quick because of the hole in my exhaust manifold.

There are no leaks according to the muffler man, but the sound is weird. Seems to happen a little more and a little more. I think it's the custom made y-pipe flanges that he did, but I'm not for sure. Time will tell.

I've heard of popping at the tailpipe but not at the headers. Sounds strange to me. Our Magnum engines will pop out the end and it's hard to get rid of that and stay rid of it. This is because our engines run rich and unburnt fuel has a tendency to ignite at the end die to the exhaust pulses and the heat generated by the cats. I eliminated some of mine with the MSD ignition and Blaster SS coil but not all.

Never thought of that... right after my headers were put on, my check eng light came on, the only code I got (via key dance) was 12(battery removed from PCM) but I noticed that some faults such as oxygen sensors (control rich/lean? (and TB spacer creating a leaner mix??))don't have a code. I disconnected the battery and entire weekend while I was away on a trip, came back and the light hasn't reappeared...the great quest to solve my truck problems...

Well, I just finished installing my Gibson Split rear exit kit and I am not impressed at all. The kit has the wrong hanger so I had to make one, the pipes seem to be over bent and the angles are impossible to get right, and the female flanges are too big for the other ends to fit and allow the clamps to tighten and prevent the pipe from moving or LEAKING. I had to cut slots in the female flanges which helped to clamp down but there is still room to tighten down. I am probably going to have a muffler shop just weld the damn thing together as I have some bad leaks right behind the muffler. I also don't like the basic tips either. I almost wish I would have bought the kit from JC Whitney for $174 with a generic muffler and then bought another muffler later. I have installed some nice exhaust systems on other cars and the overall quality of this kit is just terrible.

The sound is very good and does not drone at 70mph like some others. Power.......maybe a 5% increase below 3000rpm. The difference I have noticed is that it pulls from 3500 to 5500 alot smoother and quicker and with much less fuss. Sound is muscular but quiet which is exactly what I was looking for. Ran the truck without the muffler for a few minutes and it sounded pretty cool but had alot of backfire and blackness around the pipe. Engine must run real rich when it is cold to get warmed up?

All Said and done. I wish I had the local shop "build" me a system with the dynomax muffler and custom pipes. It would only have been $20 more and would have had polished stainless tips.

I'mnotreally worried about emissions but what is bothering me is the fact that there is an o2 sensor behind it and I dont know how that will be effected
