Subject: 70mm TB & Z Tube
IP: Logged

Message:
I just ordered the Z tube with 7 inch Power Stack Filter, and plan to install it on my stock TB (2001 4.7L 4x4 CC Dakota)

I'm also looking at upgrading the TB to the 70mm. Will the Z tube still fit, and if so will it be too constricting for the new 70mm TB?

Thanks for any info..

The z-tube you bought will be to small for a 70mm TB. The z-tube you bought is 3" and the 70mm requires a larger tube. The airmax air intake is 3.5" and will fit the 70m from what I understand and i've heard the volant tube (3.4"?) might fit as well. The 4" z-tube has been dicontinued. Or you could have a machine shop bend you a pipe then take it to a speed shop and have the jet hot or ceramic coated. Machine shops may do that as well. Or just build your own out of ABS plastic.

Ok, so I called Intense Performance, and they are changing my order and sending me a larger 4" tube, that will fit the 70mm TB. (they are great to talk to and worked with me on everything).

Next question, I'm ordering the 70mm TB from krcperformance.com, is this a project I can do on my own, or would this be better left to a pro. I here rumor that it's a simple bolt on procedure?
