I have 3" from the cat to the muffler, then dual 2 1/4" from the muffler, out the back with chrome tips. Sounds & looks great, I get compiments (sp?) on the look and sound all the time.

One word of warning though, you'll get a 'gurgle' or popping sound when you let off the gas. I noticed it did it since new, but it's amplified now with the exhaust. You get used to it though.

I have true dual 2.5" exhaust coming off of JBA Headers into two 40 series Flowmasters without Cats. Sounds awesome. Low Growl.

On my 01 4.7 I have a flowmaster delta flow 40 series going into a single 3" flowmaster tail pipe ( the pipe that comes with the cat back kit) It sounds pretty good a lot better than with the 50 series that came with the cat back. Just pull the 3rd cat if you want it to be really loud.

'01 auto 4.7 w/single in, dual out 40series,,and I have gotten nothing but compliments on it. Sounds awesome,,and again that little burble when you let off gas is just plain mean.

It sounds better if you run your pipes a little way from the muffler to get more resonance, but after I dumped it, it still sounds great.

SWEEET!!... That gurgle is what i was looking for added to the deep sound of the Flowmasters. Does the gurgle sound anything like the gurgle from a Mustang GT with flowmasters??

It's a similar sound as the Mustang GT's. Run your truck up to 6000 RPM and just let off and coast. Tell me if you like that. Oh yeah, I've got the third cat removed as well. That definitely helps out.

I think the sound is closer to the 4.6L GT stangs than the 5.0L 's ... now to get the 1/4 mile times similar to Mustang GTs ... I'm working on it.
