My parents bought me a 2000 regular cab dak. sport. It has a 2.5L 4-Cyl. engine(120 hp). It runs ok with the ac off (3rd gear gets me to 65 from 45 in about 4 seconds). But i want more power and can't afford to buys a new or not so used V6. I found 4 things so far that i can get. A Cat-back exhaust, a jet chip-set, an air intake, and a Venom 400 Control Module, which all together boots the power up about 65 horses, all of which i can get for under $1000. Is this a good way to go, will it make my truck as fast as the V6(which comes with 175 hp)? Also, it there anything else i can do to make it faster?

I feel your pain Craig. I used to have a 2.5L club cab with a 5spd. My solution was a 2001 QC 4.7 5spd. But lets try to help you out here. The intake is GOOD - and the more cold air you feed that intake, the better. Skip the Jet chip, they're shyte. The catback may or may not help you, and the Venom controler may or may not be hoodoo. You might seriously consider going on the bottle - you should be able to run a 60 or so hp shot of nitros - you might also look for a turbo kit - that would be the ultimate. If you don't have a tach in that truck, go get an aftermarket tach from somewhere and put it in. Keep that little banger over 3 grand and you'll be suprised what it can do with a few mods.

Will the cool air intake make much of a difference, i mean will i definitly be able to feel the difference? And if i get eh cat-back, which i have been told does help a lot, will it make my truck sound bad, being a 4 Cyl.? Also, i don't know much about NOS, if i were to get one, how much would it cost and does it always have an effect, or does it have to be activated?

Even my wife was able to feel the difference the intake made on my truck. I don't know about the cat back, because I never put one on, but Marty didn't recommend one when I talked to him the first time - if you do put one on, go with a gibson single out. As for nitros (NOS is actually a brand name) I don't know how much a kit might cost you, but www.truckperformance.com is probably a good place to start looking. Nitros will only have an effect if you actually activate it. The other thing, like I said, is look into a turbo. I couldn't begin to tell you where to look for that, but I'd geuss speedtweeks.net or krcperformance.com

Check with Clifford Performance-they specialize in fours and sixes.

Mopar also has some neat stuff. I ran a hot 2.2 back in the eighties that was chocked full of Shelby-designed goodies.
