Ok. I installed an MSD 6a ignition last weekend on my '98 3.9ltr., and my truck keeps stalling when I turn on the a/c or if I rev it to high. Does anyone know why this is going on? I have reset the computer, but am I giving it enough time to recalibrate? Also, could the factory alternator be doing this? Maybe a higher amp alt.? Please, someone help.

I would check all connections to make sure they are secure. If they are, then I would disconnect the MSD to make sure the problem is caused by the MSD unit. If the sympton goes away when you remove the MSD unit, then you probably have a defective MSD unit.

Well, I did disconnect it still did it, untill I reset my computer. I'm guessing that there is no way to cross the wires on the universal wireing harness, is there? And I called JEGS and the guy told me that he also thought it sounded like the alternater. The thing is, I had under-drive pullies on it and it wouldn't charge ant idle and I also had my factory battery just go bad one nigt, out of the blue. Ya think I may have hurt the alternater?? Thanks.

If everything works OK when the MSD is removed, it seems to me the problem is related to the MSD.

I assume you followed the wiring instruction. If you don't have the correct wiring diagram, they are available/printable on the MSD webb site.

I have been using an ASP crank underdrive pulley for over a year and have not had any problems with my charging or MSD systems.

(I have got two messages regarding the tachometer adapter - P0351 :)

Go to Wallmart and have them check your charging system. The last time I had them do it, it was free.

well, i did the "pull the negative while the truck is running" and it kept going, but like i said, when i switched back to the old, it still did it for a period of time. i had all three pullies on at one point, and took them off thinking that maybe the prob., but no. so, i'm going to go ahead and change aout the alternatar and see if that does the trick, hell i need one anyways. but, if that dosn't help, then i would almost gaurantee it's the MSD. Thanks again.
