Turboguy: With the correct amount of boost (and reinforced stock engine)...400RWHP isn't hard to hit. HOWEVER, the reliability factory with the stock engine would be questionable as the 5.2/5.9L are thin-wall castings. 500HP at the crank is pushing it close to the limit of stress failure. The kit was baselined with 5# boost (not 8# as initially designed), running on stock injectors (didn't have the 24# injectors installed), and was the FIRST dyno run ever. If you think the kit is going to be sold at that spec...you're out of your mind. It's the first run...not the final.

Now...add heads, intake, exhaust, cam, nitrous, etc...anything is possible.

Let's take a quick look at something for a second:

(1) M1-2BBL MPI Intake - $400
(2) R/T Heads (Custom Ported w/1.97 or 2.02 valves) - $1900
(3) CompCams Custom camshaft - $280
(4) Mopar Performance Headers - $425
(5) 52mm Billet Throttle Body - $500
(6) K&N Intake Gen-II FIPK - $260
(7) T'Stat, Cap, Rotor, Plugs, Wires - $85-$110 (depending on wires)
(8) Custom Exhaust w/Muffler - $300
(9) TransGo Shift Kit - $100
(10) Mopar Performance TQ Convertor - $200

Add all those item together and you should have a very stout running 360CID Dakota. Times should be in the mid 13's. Total Cost for those items is close to $4500. Sure...it costs less than a Turbo system (and most S/C systems)...but just think what a TT system would do for that! (You could possibly see high 11's with that and you wouldn't have the boost loss unlike a centrifugal S/C.) - Food for thought.

Bernd or Tom: You shouldn't have posted the inital results as all the nay-sayers will just jump all over it. Personaly for a first run and I think it did quite well. I won't be surprized as to see it pull close to the 325hp at the rear with a near stock engine.

We were just posting the initial results as some folks wanted to see what it could do. So, keeping in mind that it was a first time run (ever)...we gave everyone a "in progress" look.

Since (and not only on this list), some of the other complainers decided to down play the entire system (regardless that it was running an minimal boost)...we're not going to post anything else on the project until all is tuning is completed and our other "contacts" have had a chance to see it close-up.

BernD + Tom,

I would like to see the results as they come about. I'm curious like a cat, and would like to know where it's at. I've noticed the neysayers are the same neysayers on everything that comes about around here.
I have run Turbo on Rotory Engines for years and have seen 5#'s of boost on my 13b (79 ci or 1.3L) add only 50 HP Stock. :( As with any Turbo Project, I started doing little things, New seals, Balance and lighten the rotors, 3mm Ceramic Apex seals, J-porting, new fuel rails, larger injectors, 4 more injectors (to total 8 injectors), MSD spark boxes, Programable fuel controllers, New Transmission, New rear end, larger turbo, WEW, list goes on and on. Total finished cost, ready, $37,400. End Horse Power results at Central Motors in Dallas, RWHP for 1.3L Engine, 705 HP NO NITROUS at 42#'s boost (thats 2 and 3/4 atmospheres) at 11,000 RPM's, 790 HP w/100 Shot.(UH, thats 10 HP per cubic inch YA'LL):}
The point in all this is Horse Power costs money, and it is the responsibility of each person to decide for them selves how much they are willing or can afford to pay for it. $6,100 does not seem excessive at all to me, as long as it developes the power needed. Because turbo's are very much more adjustable than Super Chargers and can produce tons more boost once the base setup is in. And the turbo whine sounds better than the SC whistle.

Have fun Ya'll,

Kota on 20's,

Wouldn't build a monster like that if I wasn't going to intimidate with it.
I've ran it at Alamo Dragway in San Antonio and Hallsville Drag Strip in Hallsville, TX. Best time was at Hallsville with a 8.23 ET @ 161 MPH Running Hoosiers and 99 Octane VP Racing fuel mixed with Alchohol 50/50.
Car has License Plate and Inspection Sticker.(with the exhaust pointing straight from the T-55 out the right fender) VATO only wanted a case of TALL BOYS to inspect it.
Shift point is 12,500 RPM's at 112 mph.

It's a rush to drive, and my son would rather ride in it than any thing I've owned or built yet.

Later,

The thing about that "1.3L" rotary is that it's effectively around a 3.4L since the rotors are in multiple stages of the combustion cycle at any given time. Some timing associations require the displacement to be multiplied by 2 and others by 3 when putting it into a class.

(still an impressive amount of HP though)
