Ok. heres the scenario...then I'll get to the main question.
First off I'm a newbie here. I'm 22 yrs old and I've had 1 vehicle (my dak) my whole life. I am by FAR NOT an automotive/dragracing/engine God or anything. Ok. i had a97 dakota rc 2wd auto sport. manual doors windows...no cruise or tilt. just a basic daggone magenta dakota. lol
ok. well this guy wrecked (totalled) a 99 rt dakota. i bought the truck.. me and my uncle put engine rearend and tranny from the RT into my truck. God what a process that was...had to change inside harness...gauge cluster...different lightswitch...all that crap... so many little things it was awful..but worth it. Ok... so heres how my truck is right now. ok... as far as mods... not really anything..but this is what ive rigged, everything..nothing exxagerated or left out. i did the gutterguard from lowes mesh thing on the grille/valence (got that idea from here..it was kewl and less $) ive got the 17 in rt rims....with pirelli scorp zero tires..275/55/17.. um.. 8mm wires..180 deg thermo.removed the lil rubber thing in the front...autolite 2293s? i think? (the ones a step below stock) cervinis 138 dual scoop hood... i took the whole airhat off and have a round chrome air filter thing on it... 12 inches across like 3 inches high? bed tarp....bedliner....the exhaust is cut off about a foot after the muffler cuz it was bent when the guy wrecked it and i havent replaced it yet.. not givin that much money to dodge for oem replacement ss pipe... oh yeah and my left fender and door are new and flat black...because some sleeping idiot in a 83 f250 sideswiped me about a month ago....lol
. ok when i changed it out.. i still kept manual doors/windows... no cruise..no tilt steering... (figured it was a waste because i always speed anyway...thought maybe a lil less weight=better)... no spare tire on either.. and i have a fiberglass roll pan.
OK heres the ??.. 1..what should i expect (et and mph) in a 1/4.... assuming i can drive..lol.. 2. how would my truck run beside a stock actual RT.... 3. whats it gonna take short of major $$ to make this thing run close to a flat 13. 4. is it really true that these engines are safe up to like 6500 rpm? (gonna get a new pcm or get mine flashed) 5. do they make a higher speedo when i do this? i want one registered for 160...ill put 2.00 gears in..find me an airport...ROFL j/k.
also.. whats up with the m1 intakes? 2bbl or 4? and what does bbl mean anyways? just wantin some real world advice here...as to where to spend money first.... to get the most improvements... any good suggestions?? would really appreciate anything. and yes.. its purple..lol sad what youll do when youre 17 and daddy says "pick whichever one you want...youre payin for it."?

oh yea.. thought youd get a kick out of what my mom said last night.
"my truck will outrun yours":
shes got a qc 4x4 auto 4.7 dak.. hehe
least shes kewl.
thanks guys

If this setup is as stated-- it would be a 15.0 second truck, maybe 14.9 stock. That's about it.

M1-2bbl is M1 single plane manifold, 2 barrel intake. A M1-4bbl is a M1 single plane manifold, 4 barrel intake *(typically using a 2-4 barrel adapter, with a standard 2 barrel throttle body).

Depending on what your truck does, the M1-2bbl would be a good choice, headers, Cat back exhaust... From there an electric fan, slicks-- might get you into the 13s... All depending on what you do in your current configuration.

Ok thanks man...like I said..im not a genious so anything helps...
i was also considering getting the 2bbl soon as $$ permits.
Ok...on the exhaust.. I live in the podunks...ky... so it doesnt matter as far as emissions what i do really.. i was thinkin that the next thing to do would be to run dual exhausts...like start at the y pipes....straight back... a crossover pipe between em (2 1/2 " pipes) back to two mufflers... with turndowns... i dont personally want big pipes out the back...rather have em hidden and raise up dust when it revs... hehe..
Wouldnt that be better performance wise than the cat back?
also.. with the new hood... tryin to figure out a way to build me a box sorta like the new ram-air trans ams.... maybe an aluminum box...or even add fiberglass on the bottom of the hood all the way back into a circle...then put a gasket/seal around it....and have it close down flush against some sorta box secured on the tb with a filter.... that should help better...
just that ive not saw this done..so its hard to do without some sorta guide to go by...guess thats what friends are for...
thanks for the info man.. i called my friendly dodge dealer..lol.. it was like 544 for the intake.
and by the way this truck is an eeryday driver...so its racing is mostly limited to the 4 lane....but i wanna be able to keep up with the mustangs.... and not fall on my arse at 100mph...
