Is it downshifting when you floor it? It sounds like it might be downshifting even when it doesn't need too. If not, you might have a slipping transmission because that doesn't sound normal to me. How fast are you going when it does this?

I have a 2002 3.9L 4x4 and am having the same problem. Sometimes it will not downshift when required and other times it acts like it won't upshift right either. So I don't know if it is normal or not. I would appreciate some advice on whether or not to keep the truck and try some mods or go back and get the V8. My truck also has no take off. What can I do to make it push me back in the seat at take off and when accelerating?

Todd, my V6 sh*tbox driving aquaintance. For you performance is getting 30mpg. You buy cheap azz crap to pimp out your ride. You wash and wax your "beauty" religiously. You take the time to detail her well.
Reality check Todd, your parents were too lazy to name you correctly. You should apply for a new name... AzzMonger
You should buy a few extra Autolights and plug that poor excuse for a mouth known as your A$$.

Is it considered an insult when someone insults the name you hate? :0)

I think my parent's were stoned when they named me. My C++ teacher started calling me Troy, so I guess I'll go by that now... heh.

I only -wish- I got 30mpg. Has anyone else given up on washing and waxing their trucks? I find that if i do it, it just attacts all the local dirt to stick to it. Not to mention it seems ot paint a giant bullseye on it for all the birds. I swear though, if I go down and find that cat lounging on the hood again, kitty is gonna learn how to fly!

Performance is getting all the ladies to say, "Can I get a ride?" ;0)

Yo LI Blackdak what part of LI are you from? Seems like we're all a$$holes here. You must listen to Howard. But anyway I have some weird shifting problem too. When I'm goin like 50-60mph and I hit the gas and downshift, it gets stuck in that gear for a few seconds after I let off. All I can think of is I messed with the TV cable a while ago, but I set it back when I didn't like it. I'm pretty sure I set it right too, it shifts fine all other times, except on the highway. You think maybe its a tranny fluid issue?
