Hey guys - you all have different tastes and exhausts - so I pose the question. I got behind an R/T here in Wilmington, NC the other day with dual exhaust - and it was loud as crap! I loved it, i was like - YES! What's a good abnoxiously loud but powerful sounding exhaust? Thanks!

OOOOH. I've been browsing this forum for months trying to decide what I wanted to do with my truck. Decided on adding a cat back. GOOD CHOICE! Got a Flowmaster 40 series, single in/dual out. I LOVE IT! My truck SOUNDS like a truck now! I can hardly wipe the stupid grin off my face every time I touch the gas pedal!
I'm now waiting with the rest of the 4.7 crowd for K&N to get that FIPK out...(okay, some of the 4.7 crowd, LOL)

I have the same set up as DakotaFan. Sounds great! If you want loud, just put a Y behind the cat and don't put any mufflers on! And you will need like 3.5" to 4" megaphone tips =] That would be loud, but sound good at the same time. That is what I plan on doing when I get my 4x4. I want mine to be as "redneck" as possible. (I can say that cause I am from a small redneck town, ok)

I put 2 1/4" dual exhaust with glasspacks and no cats on my girlfriends '99 318 Dakota, when it was first done it just had 2 1/4" tailpipes out the back and sounded kinda crappy. I put some 18" long 3 1/2" tips on it and it deepened the exhaust and now it sounds pretty sweet.

Any Flowmaster is going to be loud with a highflow or no cat it is going to be even louder. If you want a good loud "megaphone" style tip, try a search on the internet for "Megs" exhaust tips. Pretty damn sweet. Oh I gotta say that the regular 40 series is the loudest. Got a Deltaflow now cause i didnt like the drone.

i just installed the mbrp cuda stlye, and wow it sounds really really good. my truck sounds like a muscle car now. very load deep throaty tone to it too. i'd suggest everyone go with the mbrp

40 series is what I have on my R/T. If you want to make it really loud dump the exhaust tips right after the muffler. Gotta warn you though it's FU*KIN loud !!! The interior cab resonance is just as loud as outside. If you like really loud all the time exhaust then do this.

My flow 40 wasn't loud enough even with it dumped so I took it off and now am running around without the muffler. Just a cat, it's fairly loud.

I have the 318 and my buddy has the same... he put some jba or may have been gibson headers on there and it made it quiter... he already had the single in and dual out muffler by flowmaster but wanted it to be louder but it didn't at all is there something wrong with his truck will it be the same on mine witch is a 97 and his is a 98

Cut off ur cat...put the shortest glass pack ur muffler shop has...Y it out behind the glass pack and run duals out the back with long 3 and 1/2 inch around and real long chrome tips..My bro has these on his gmc jimmy 6 cylinder..and its loud as crap..hes been pulled over by the cops it so loud..hope it helps!

I have an 89 bronco full size with gibson single outside pipes and it is almost quiter than stock so im going to run straights from the cat back. What do you guys think

I still think that the loudest after the 40 series that I have would be no muffler and cat. Just a large dia. pipe. I heard that a guy put an electric cutout before his cat on his 360. Push a button and no muffler or cat, then push again and it's quite for cruisin through a trailer park at night.
