BEAT A LIGHTNING!!!!!

Hehe, I just whooped a Lightning!! I was at a stopped at a light by the highway and a Silver Lightning pulled up next to me and looked over. He revved his engine and I looked over and revved mine...That was all she wrote...Light turned green and WHOOSH!!!! I smoked him. I was about a whole length ahead and was steadily pulling away....what a rush....I then blew off an airhose when I decelerated...I need a blow off valve..hehe

When I pulled off to a gas station, the Lightning went by. The guy kinda looked P.O.'d hehe. He did not even pull off to say anything...oh well...hehe

I am still stoked about the a$$ whoopin I handed out! I just really need to put on that boost bypass...It was funny that I completely blew off the intake hose! It did not break, it just popped off. hehe. I was at speed limiter before I knew it...now I just need to take it to the track with my slicks on!

Sad part for him is you have to weigh just about as much if not more with the CC.

I take it you installed heavyduty head bolts & gaskets when you had the heads off so no danger there.

I know Lightnings weigh about 4650-4700
Club cab Daks ....... 4200 ? (not sure)

Now watch this thread turn into a discussion about curb weight of those trucks.

But I did blow my pcv valve off the valvecover somehow must be all that air its suckin in...never heard anyone w/ a blowoff valve w/o a blower or turbo though. I thought we weren't runnin boost we were runnin off vacuum? Maybe I'm wrong.

Dave,

I was looking at the 4 cylinder member page and saw that you mentioned getting a Mopar Performance cam for the ol' Dak, I like mine a lot, I got the medium lobed cam; they make a low, medium and high lobe cam, the highest performance cam is made for use with turbo applications like on those old turbo Omni's and stuff. So I got the medium one because I had mods already. KRC installed/ordered it. No complaints at all, While we were installing the cam, what would of been a simple remove/install of about 15 minutes we noticed the timing belt was all chewed up and Marty said with the added power of the cam we needed to replace it, so it took a hell of a lot longer than planned!!

Where ya been? You should sooo become a member, I'm tryin to hold down the fort all by myself.

Anyway, my timing belt crapped out on me a few weeks ago at about 94000 miles. So I know that I don't need a new one. 15 minutes you say? LOL Do you happen to have the part number written down anywhere?

And Kris:
Looked at the short vid I took at the meet. Yer truck looks even better when the sun hits the chrome in the camaras eye. Bling bling. lol Have you uploaded the photos you took, Kris?

The blowoff helped, and the auxilary pulley. routing cool air into the filter area did wonders. the injectors helped to, but lately it just seems to love boost. No I havent blown any head gaskets since the fel pros and arp head bolts. I run 1 degree per psi of boost and this is in hot texas weather. The blower doesnt get heat soaked anymore... but it does get a little sluggish when its really hot and in stop and go traffic. But the highway is great... and at night (80degrees) it runs really strong. I got ls1's runnin for their money.

Dave,

Ok, I may of low balled the 15 minute statement, but like I said if it wasn't for the timing belt needing replaced it would of been a pretty simple sliding out of the stock cam and the sliding in of the Mopar Performance cam. I don't have the part #, but if you go to the Dodge dealer parts desk and look at their Mopar Performance catalog find the 4 cyl. section and go from there. There are 3 to choose from for our 4 bangers, like I said I got the "medium" lobed cam for engines with some mods already, the "high" cam was for turbo applications in 4 cyl. Good luck and keep me posted as to your progress, if you need anything else let me know! I need a drop now like you! I looked at your signature, instead of gutting my cat I got it removed and a straight pipe put in from the factory headers to the Flowmaster 40 I have (single in/dual out) with nice thick gauge aluminum pipes that were hand bent (2 1/2 inch) out the back with 3x18 inch angle cut stainless tips.

I have to go to the dealer tommorow to get a part so that I can fix my egr system. I tell ya, this motor doesnt like it when that is messed up. If I get on it or go above 3000 rpm it sputters and sometimes it almost dies. Darn thing probably should be put out of it's misery anyway. lol
Anyway, since I'll be there doin' that I might as well buy a new cam too. What the heck. It's probably good for 5-10 hp at the wheel I reckon. Prolly around 100-150 bucks. Not too shabby.
