I found this tip on a site while searching for PCM modules. I don't remember which site.

Not sure if this works for V6 and V8 since site didn't specify either one. I'll try it on my V6 tomorow and post my results.

Throttle Position Sensor Tip!

Setting the inital TPS voltage to 0.8 to 0.9
volts is a great way to get a sronger throttle
response off the line. The stock settings are
0.4 to 0.5 volts usually. Remove the TPS,
and press out the brass bushings, and
re-install the TPS with washers on the bolts.
Then turn the housing while reading the TPS
voltage with a scanner or voltmeter to get as
close to 0.9 volts without going over it. If
you do, you will set a TPS voltage too high
code. Lock down the TPS when the
desired voltage has been reached.

Don't set it to .8 or .9 you will get an engine light. about .7 to .75 max and it works good. Been posted about 500 times on this site now. Speed tweaks has it on their site also I think.

On my 01 4.7 I was told that anything above .75 would set off the check engine light. Anything between .70-.75 is good. Mine was .52 from the factory. I think this tip is covered in speedtweaks website under tips and tricks.

Lynn,

We must have posted about the same time. Almost word for word, imagine that. It must be the truth then if we both swear to it. :-)

I'm a first timer to this site. I've been reading all the posts like crazy. Sorry to post old news, and thanks for the update on the .7-.75V. I've got one of them AuotXrays with all the bells and whistles that I'll use.

That's pretty funny... (about posting at the same time)

Where is the TPS sensor (on the TB) and what does it look like... aren't there 3 or 4 sensors on it?

Since the TPS trick is old hat, are there any other tips like this to get better performance?
