Did anyone personally install the JET "Chip" on ther 4.7L and did you feel and increase in power, or did anyone run one on a Dyno?? Also has anyone heard if these chips are any good?? Any major problems....

Haven't tried one personally, and I won't for two reasons. (1) The Mopar PCM (computer) is a learning computer... over time, the PCM will compensate for everything that the JET Chip is doing. And (2) I've read on a number of Dak and Durango boards, that those who've tried it didn't like it for the above reason. I've not read of anyone suffering any damage from them however.

The JET is place in-line with the PCM and changes a number of sensors data on the way to the PCM. Its not a replacement for the PCM.

THE JET CHIP IS A PIECE OF SH*T !!! ABSOLUTELY A WASTE OF MONEY!! GAS MILEAGE IS THE ONLY THING THAT CHANGES AND IT DECREASES. FIND A PERFORMANCE SHOP LIKE HYTECH PERFORMANCE IN PHOENIX TO REFLASH THE COMPUTER FOR ABOUT $300. IF YOU WANT MY JET CHIP $200- CRAP IN ORGINAL BOX!!!

I love my Jet. The PCM can not learn it because it alters the signals LEAVING the PCM going to the engine not the ones going from the engine into the pcm. It works very well if you have the recommended mods from Jet (intake, 180 t-stat, exhaust, etc.)

I have to say that the Jet Stage II has been the best bang for the buck for me. I have not heard great things with the older magnums but to me I think the 4.7 loves this chip. No problems so far with towing yet I do always feed it 93 octane gas.

I also swear by (and not at) my Jet Chip II for my 2001 4.7...I also have the recommended 180 t-stat, intake, and cat-back (plus 'colder' 3923 Autolite plugs)

Now keep in mind I did have a MIL show up saying: Engine Too Cold for Too Long...yet performance and drivability remain the same.

I'm playing between 93 and 89 octane (remember, these are 'minimum' octane ratings at the pump)...so far no difference in performance.

has anyone ran a dyno or 1/4 mile before and after the miracle chip? has any one had their vehicle's computer tampered with by the dealer prior to the install ( i believe this may be the source of no gain) but again for what that chip cost a performance shop can reflash the factory computer improving everything: shift point, red line, top speed limiter, etc. P>S. i have all the jet recommended adds and then some.

i saw on a 5.9 R/T a dyno test showed that over the stock pcm he lost about 7hp with the jet. But I think the Mopar chip on the R/T is performance tuned. I would buy the mopar one now.

Unfortunately there is no Mopar Performance chip for the 4.7. (and likely will not be...)

LOCAL DODGE DEALER PARTS MANAGER THAT OWNS A 4.7 AND A R/T CHRYSLER IS AFRIAD OF THE WARRANTY ISSUES WITH BREAKAGE ESPECIALY ON THE NEW 5 SPEED AUTOS THAT COME WITH THE 4.7. SO FIND A LOCAL SPPED SHOP THAT CAN REFLASH YOUR STOCK COMPUTER AS THIS IS THE ONLY WAY TO REALLY SEE WHAT THE 4.7 (OR 5.9) CAN DO. MY JET STAGE II IS FOR SALE.....

I love the Jet Stage II, I put on the jet plus an intense performance intake on my 2k 4.7 and thought it worked great. As far as the Mopar PCM, they do list a part # for it but its still not available, i guess they are anticipating it being out soon (yeah). I went from running a high 15.8 to a low 15.7 so gained almost 2 tenths in the quarter mile.

jj mentioned the service manager @ Alhambra dodge, that guy knows jack. Jet II doesnt take off the speed limiter, I bought my dak from Alhambra Dodge, and he couldnt even tell me where to buy a 180 stat from. hell, the guys on this webboard are way more helpfull than most dodge techs.

p.s. jet II is great, despite the speed limiter still in tact.

Ron, the best price i've seen so far for the Jet Stage II is www.truckperformace.com, i think they are offering free shipping for the holiday. They also have a 180 t-stat from jet. get the stage II if you have some mods and don't mind using premium fuel. I've been using 89 octane with no trouble with my stage II. Get the stage I if you don't have any mods or don't plan to mod.

Truckperformance.com is great, as long as they dont send you a defective part...my stage II was (engine light on), luckily I live only 40 min from Jet, and could return it without waiting weeks for the mail.

p.s. does that 180 stat they sell, work on the 01 4.7?

When I first put my chip in my truck I didn't notice anything. I was pretty upset after just investing $200 plus in this chip. But I started thinking to myself why I didn't notice anything at all. First of all I had some regular unleaded gas left in the tank. You need to run 93 octane only. The next thing I changed was my spark plugs. Now I can feel a big difference in power. Check and make sure you do this before sending anything back

dude I didnt send it back cause i felt no power,
i was smart and ran 92 since I bought the dak,
that cheap shiite leaves too many deposits, I
returned it cause it was defective...one of the
pins inside the pcm was missing...therefore,
check engine light

p.s. you should also run an aftermarket air
intake, and exhaust to notice any power gains
with the stage II.

every review I have ever read on jet and hypertech have been disapointing. These common chip replacements are entirely too conservative to add any significant performance improvement. You realy have to get agressive with your fuel mapping and timing to get a significant improvement over the factory programming. The custom flash if available in your area would realy be much better. Jet and hypertec are emission legal and that is because the do not signifacantly increase fuel flow. The engine has alot of potiential with the rev limiter removed, speed limiter and richer fuel mixture it would probably realy perform. If memory serves my correctly the throttle body, intake plenum and air box on the 4.7L already out flows the 5.9 so I doubt that air flow is the key performance limiter. I would love for these people to dyno their rigs before and after they install these chips on their vechile.
