Subject: Mopar PCM ?
IP: Logged

Message:
I have read that some people have a problem with the MOPAR PCM because they have not had the VIN flashed in it. I am going to buy one soon and would like to know if I should get my VIN flashed before it is shipped. I live in Italy so I can't take it to a local dealer if I have a problem with it and get it flashed. I would have to get it done before geting it shipped. Is it needed?
Thanks for any help.

If you don't have the VIN Flashed... You will have an ABS light and this function will fail. It's good to take it to a dealer for this once it is in the vehicle becuase other things have to be set such as tire-size, gear-ratio, and Mileage (even though the mileage is stored in the dash computer). My truck ran fine all the way to the dealership. My Dealer charged me one hour labor @ 70 bucks which was thier minimum. You may be able to have this done for a six-pack if you know a service guy.

Yes it is needed. Might as well get it done before you get it since you are overseas.

Thank for the info. KRC does it for $25 but they charge more for the PCM then others. I guess I will get through them and have it done before it is shipped.

Too bad you did not do it last month. KRC had June special 310.00 programed. They are still showing it so give them a call. They may still be honoring it.

Well I ordered it. KRC did not answer the phone but they never have when I call. They never answered my e-mails from along time ago either. I know they are a small shop but that is irritating. If it wasn't a good deal I would not buy it from them because of that. Oh well, I am confident that I will get it.

Well I can say we did have it out earlier this week but all in all everything is fine. You just have to get used to waiting on these smaller companies. I sure hope Marty doesn't hold a grudge and learns to ignore us pissy people. I believe the average turnaround time for those pcms is about 20-30 days, so don't freak out like me. lol
